Time flies faster and faster. John tells me that that perception comes because I'm old (or getting). I hate when he is right on things like this. could some just stop the clock for one minute! Luckly, I realized early enough to organize something special.

Michael Bosworth has gracefully volunteered to present JS USE theory with a dash of Drupal examples. Michael is a highly accomplished Software Engineer and Drupal Developer.
Usually summer is a slow time but this is a meeting not to miss! Yes, I'm talking to you J***. Bring Jason with you. Everyone else bring some one too. This will pertain to all web sites/applications so even if you are not interested in Drupal there will be lots of good info for you.
Please do sign up. It really helps us. Thanks.
For those that don't know:
We meet the last Monday of every month from 7pm - 9pm usually followed by beers at a local watering hole. That is where the real good discussion happen. none alcoholic drinkers should feel welcome and encouraged to join us following the meeting.
We have moving to a larger venue: 333 Science II on the ISU campus. It is easy to get to. From Hwy 30, take University Boulevard until you pass the horse barns. Park north of Pammel Drive, cross Pammel, and enter the building by the northeast door. Go to the third floor to room 333. We will have signs posted.

Sweet presentation
40 minutes into this presentation and I am all full. But yet he keeps feeding me more information. I need a personal second processor and more ram.
Michael could you post your presentation so we can go back to this later when I have digested a bit?
Regards,
Michael Hofmockel

Node.js follow up
We brought up the topic of Node.js at the tail end of our discussion. Please take note that my guidelines for JavaScript development apply to developing in the browser, i.e. working with the DOM on the client side. Node.js is an entirely different beast. Node.js is software package that allows you to run JavaScript from the command line using V8, Google Chrome's engine. Node.js is meant to run AS A SERVER. It is NOT client side technology although you can communicate with a client just like Apache can.
I have a question for those that are up to speed on discussion within the Drupal community on Node.js integration in Drupal. Is the discussion about leveraging Node.js to take some load off of Apache or is the discussion about replacing Apache altogether?
One last thing : Drupal 6 port of Node.js Integration module is at http://drupal.org/node/1160872
