Drupal Meeting Notes - 6/29/11

Hector
∗ Will present Aegir for the next meeting
∗ This is a platform for creating and maintaining Drupal sites
∗ Rackspace Linode – good dashboard

Robbie
∗ HotDrupal is bad.
∗ Reminded everyone to thank John for the meeting location on fast notice.
∗ John’s site is greenmobility.com (non-profit)
∗ XML sitemap – uses a lot of memory
∗ Jumo.com – advocacy organizations; is Facebook-like; allows the user to connect with organizations
∗ Volunteermatch.org is another good place to visit to find organizations

Greenmobility.com
∗ Robbie gave us a look at the theme he initially picked for John’s site
∗ He showed us Corolla
∗ Omega - new way of themeing
∗ Antsin.com/Blogbuzz – this theme made a huge impact, very good theme for Greenmobility, better than the initial theme.
∗ Suckerfish module – we looked at this briefly
∗ View slideshow – a good image slideshow module

Group Recommendations for Greenmobilty.com
∗ Improve the look of the site – accomplished with Bloggbuzz
∗ Move the blog out of the home page to a sub-page
∗ Mollum – install this module which checks blog posts for spam
∗ Views – “Dev” version has additional functions and filters; version 7 is much better than previous versions
∗ Create a teaser version with “read more’ link for the content – to move the majority of the content to a sub-page.
∗ Warning – not all Drupal 6 themes work in Drupal 7 so choose wisely; read reviews and comments before installing.

Next meeting: 7/27/11
Location: to be decided

What is meant by "∗ HotDrupal is bad"? Is some one having problems with their service or is this the Michael Jackson sort of "bad"?
