User group meeting
For the next Santa Cruz Drupal user group meeting, Julia van der Wyk will be presenting about a topic that is not specific to Drupal so feel free to invite your non-Drupal friends to come along as well.
Julia will be discussing how to help your clients write and organize content for their website. This is relevant in how thinking about content changes once you are in a CMS vs. when you are using static pages.
We may have time for another topic as well if someone else wants to present something. Please let a comment if so.
Please also note that Paul Ferlito will be hosting the user group meetings now that Gary has been stuck too much over-the-hill for work.

Sorry I will miss it
I will be out-of-town for this meeting but I'm sure everyone will have fun!

Hey all, the article I (wrote and) based my presentation on is available here:
http://www.pfvdw.com/blog/writing-and-organizing-content-your-website
It is not required reading, but may be of interest. It is written with the intention of helping the client or content manager wrap their mind around website structure and what even the hell anyway to write.
I look forward to our discussion! :)

Next meeting?
Did you guys pick something for the next meeting? I can do something for October (same presentation that I'm hoping to do at BADCamp). I may be able to whip up something for September too if we need it.

We did not come up with
We did not come up with anything for September, although we did joke about randomly assigning someone the speaker slot. So September is open!

Features part 1 & 2
Well... one option would be for me to do part one of my 2 part features talk in September and part 2 in October though I'd probably prefer to do them back-to-back in October since that will be more similar to what I'd do at BADCamp... but then it would be pretty long. Thoughts?

Features 1 & 2
Am curious as to what aspect you will be covering with this discussion?
If a condensed version of parts 1 & 2 can fit into October, then mayhaps another discussion could pull together for September. I just finished hosting the Web Dev group and questions about Drupal's benefits came up. Maybe a good time to bring some of them in for a Drupal overview? Or another discussion on how to build a Drupal theme that is drupal correct with or without Fusion. I might be able to get some of the productOps folks over for that discussion.
Thoughts?

Flexible
I'm flexible either way... I could do part 1 in September and part 2 in October or both in October.
I haven't created the talk yet but here's the info I posted for badcamp:

BADCamp
On an unrelated note... I'm wondering who's going to BADCamp (or maybe it is easier to ask who is not going).
I can probably crash at a friend's house but was thinking it may be better to stay in a hotel in Berkeley... where is everyone else staying? Recommendations of okay hotels that aren't too expensive?

I was thinking about
I was thinking about commuting, or at least commuting to the nearest BART station. Part of it depends on what workshops get offered, if I'm going to be going up to Berkeley more than three days I might find another solution.
(Does it make sense to create a new thread for this discussion, which doesn't have anything to do with the August meeting?)

Threads
I had thought of putting this in its own thread but didn't want to clutter up the new posts... maybe this is something we all can discuss at the September meeting.
