<jhibbets> alright CGMonroe let's get this started
<CGMonroe> KK - So, who's here for the infamous TriDUG agenda planning meeting
* JuliaKM raises hand
* jhibbets raises hand
* paulthed (~Admin@cpe-066-057-122-190.nc.res.rr.com) has joined #drupal-nc
<jhibbets> hi paulthed
<jhibbets> we're just getting started
<paulthed> hi Jason and TriDUG folks
<CGMonroe> So, anyone have topics to put on the table?
<CGMonroe> I'll start with one I've suggested before: A Quick Review of Modules for non-Programmers
<jhibbets> I would like to start off by saying that I think we had a good turnout and 2 awesome topics last month
<CGMonroe> (AKA Modules for Dummies?)
<CGMonroe> Ditto!!!
<paulthed> yes, I agree. Views and Theming were 2 good topics. Presenters did a great job too
<SteveCory> News Topic: Dries is requesting that Drupal Users fill out a survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HZCPQNK
<jhibbets> and, I'll add that Allen and are were talking about doing a social media themed presentation in September. He would cover the modules side and I would cover the how to do social media side
<jhibbets> some maybe something that compliments that
<jhibbets> I think I remember someone asking about drush
<paulthed> Greg, what specific modules would you discuss? or would it be how to enable/disable modules, choosing modules, etc.?
<jhibbets> is that a topic that folks would be into and do we have a presenter?
<CGMonroe> I can do this.. it's based on stuff I've done with our folks here.
<SteveCory> Here's some topics that teh Boulder folks came up with, I would like to have some of these http://groups.drupal.org/node/134159
<Druplicon> http://groups.drupal.org/node/134159 => Possible Meetup Topics => 0 comments, 2 IRC mentions
<SteveCory> I would put "How to create and update modules, with a side on how to create a patch." near the top of the list, for us noobs
<CGMonroe> Module thing - More about structure of a module (e.g. where it lives, key files, how to do some quick "splunking" to find what URLs, theming options, blocks, and some other stuff exist in it)
<JuliaKM> I think afreemanc has done a patch presentation before
<SteveCory> Greg knows modules pretty well. . .anyone else?
* SteveCory pushes Greg to the front
<jhibbets> we also have DC asheville coming up, anything that could compliment people attending that, not sure how many folks from Tri-Dug plan on attending
<jhibbets> SteveCory, I don't know that much about modules except there are a lot and I'm not sure the best way to vet how to choose a good module
<paulthed> CGMonre: that module presentation sounds good
<CGMonroe> Yeah, I could add in some basic stuff on getting started on module dev...
<CGMonroe> they are related when you start explaining about "Hooks" like _menu and where to find URLs
<CGMonroe> One thing we haven't done recently was to have time dedicated to "open mic" / bring your problem
<CGMonroe> That has worked pretty well in other meeting in the past.
<jhibbets> i like that idea
<jhibbets> we should try to do that about once every quarter
<CGMonroe> Maybe if JK can get there early enough she could ask for SEO help...lol
<SteveCory> Isn't that more like a camp than a meetup though?
<JuliaKM> CGMonroe: that would be good
<CGMonroe> With an hour, it's sort of camp like but we tend not to break up but do it as a group
<JuliaKM> CGMonroe: You might have done this already, but a session on migrating from Wordpress/Other CMSes would probably be well-received
<jhibbets> CGMonroe, so a module presentation and open mic night, sounds good to me
<CGMonroe> Re- Wordpress, etc - Problem is finding a presenter...
<CGMonroe> Re: Jh's motion - I second it.
<JuliaKM> 3rd jh's motion
<paulthed> 4th,
<JuliaKM> Leandra is a Wordpress expert, not sure is she's on IRC though
<paulthed> if we give people notice to bring their problems, that should help facilitate more discussion then putting them onthe spot
<SteveCory> Jeff VanDrimmelen is teh UNC expert http://dev.web.unc.edu/
<CGMonroe> So here's what I;ve got
<CGMonroe> 6:30-7:00 Meet and Greet
<CGMonroe> 7:00-7:10 Announcements/Jobs
<CGMonroe> 7:10-8:00 Intro to module internals
<CGMonroe> 8:00-9:00 Open mike/bring your problem/shout out to a new favorite module
<CGMonroe> 9:00- Mellow Mushroom
* SteveCory winks
<jhibbets> +1
<jhibbets> we should add to the invite, bring a drupal friend :)
<paulthed> +1
* CGMonroe wonders if drupal friends have to wear pointed blue hats?
<CGMonroe> OK, that seems to be settled.
<SteveCory> I noticed at Drupalcon Chicago that you just need to use hair products to make your "dew" pointy
<JuliaKM> this is a really neat way to set the agenda btw
<JuliaKM> CGMonroe++
<JuliaKM> jhibbets++
Wordpress Presenter
I noticed y'all mentioned me as a Wordpress person at UNC-CH. I'd love to help out in any way i can. I'm still learning about Drupal, but I can talk all day about Wordpress. Let me know if I can help. :)
