Fellow Florida Drupalers,
I'm in need of a product directory on one of my sites that will be used to browse, but not necessarily to buy, the various products this company sells. Actually, to be specific, the company does floor coverings and the "products" are styles of floors, similar to a tile company. I'd like the ability to have thumbnails and full size images (on click) as well as the ability to give each image a product description and cost per square foot.
I'm thinking that I should use a shopping cart (Ubercart) solution, but I wanted to check first to see if anyone had other suggestions. If you were me, or you have this type of directory on one of your sites, what would you suggest for a Drupal 6.7 site?

Ubercart is good
...but it's overkill if you have no intention of doing ecommerce - ever. CCK with a custom content type may do the job for you.

Modulist is right on - the first decision you need to make is if you plan on selling the products online.
Using CCK to create a custom content type to define the various fields you need (cost/ft^2, color, size, description, manufacturer, images, etc...) along with imagecache and lightbox2 should do the job - unless you want to sell them online.
Ubercart does integrate with CCK, so if you go that route, you'll be able to integrate it with imagecache and lightbox2 for the image thumbnail stuff.

Thinking it through further....
I recall a conversation with the client that they may also want to sell cleaning supplies for the flooring. Therefore I think e-commerce is not out of the question. Still, would you suggest going the CCK route in the beginning, or just start with Ubercart?
And as for e-commerce, is Ubercart your recommendations?

Yes, I would recommend Ubercart over any other Drupal-based ecommerce solution.
