Event type:
User group meeting

We're meeting at 1807 NW Hoyt to discuss the Rose City Resource project. We'll talk about how to use this project as a model for future projects, discuss how to structure this one in the context of the users' group, and address the foundational decisions that need to be made, as sketched out here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/17216#comment-59710

There's wireless, an extra computer or two, and we've talked about making it a low-key potluck, so bring something if you're inspired to.

weather?

I'm sort of torn on heading in there. How's the weather in town. It's still snowing pretty good down here in Johnson Creek.

It's snowing steadily

If it's the only reason you're coming in, maybe we could telecommute this one instead. Mikey and Sarah P are debating it, too, and they're planning to work on the project this afternoon but possibly/probably from their place.

we were just out walking to breakfast... it's been snowing all morning, and the slush appears to be beginning to freeze (it's crunchy). So please be careful iffen you come... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMzeiMJQrvk

IRC meetup

The roads around here are wet or snowy and I suspect that it's only going to get colder tonight making for hazardous driving conditions.
If you can't walk here then plan on attending via IRC.

Join us on irc.freenode.net/8001 in #rosecity at 1:15pm today.

iChat?

I can do IRC but in terms of having a higher bandwidth group conversation iChat's group video chat works really well... provided we've got a couple people with the new version of OSX...

It's Official

Despite the fact that we really really wanted to participate in person, after sliding 3 times in the 1.5mi trek from our friends house we are staying home. However, both iChat, and/or IRC are good for Mike and I. We're gonna grab a quick lunch and join in. :)

Status update

I guess I should post a follow up with a little information on what I'd worked on. The big thing was refactoring the way that resources and locations are stored. There are now separate resource and location node types. Resources can specify multiple locations with a node reference. The location node has location info via a location_cck field as well as mass transit information.

I spent most of the day hacking on gmap and location's views support to allow us to build the queries for displaying a map with a resource's various locations. I ran into some limitations and ended up creating the following patches:
http://drupal.org/node/347030
http://drupal.org/node/338587

The view is getting the correct data but for some reason the map isn't displaying multiple points correctly. I've been talking to the gmap maintainer about it and he thinks there might be a bug in the mapping code. I'll work on this more next weekend.
