Support Requested for Accessibility Patch

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I followed up on a bug report about accessibility issues and radio buttons. Created the patch and had it approved by the test bot and others that reviewed the code.

However I'm requesting support from the accessibility community to see if we can't bring it into Drupal 7 core.

Form labels for radio & checkbox(s) are not properly done with Drupal at the moment and don't follow WCAG 2.0 Guidelines.

It's a pretty trivial change in the PHP code, but would make a big difference for folks looking for a highly accessible site. Would like to know it gets bundled into the CVS so it's there for the beta testing.

Why wait?

I just endorsed your patch for core in the discussion of the bug report. (It's as my alter ego, huevomaiztro—somehow I wound up with one identity in Drupal.org and another in groups.)

As I said there, this patch should not only be D7 but also backported to current versions. Accessibility is a core need, not a design frill.

Better support for accessibility will lead to more widespread adoption of Drupal.

Thanks Cliff.

Webchick just commented that it is "Committed to HEAD" and also "Mark[ed] back to 6.x for consideration."

Thanks for your help. Agreed that it can't be seen as a design frill. Also, acknowledge the issues with different aliases between gdo & drupal.org. Thanks for making the connection.

Mike
