Hi Everyone,
I'm happy about all the positive feedback this proposal has gotten online and offline. And I'm delighted by the group's decision to move forward with this experiment, dedicating the first hour of our meetups from now until Drupalcon Denver to improving our own Drupal chops, finding ways to contribute to Drupal core, and developing resources to make it easier for other people to do the same.
Now that the ball is rolling, our initiative needs a name. Does anyone have suggestions?

P.S. Some people have asked about what I'm doing now to keep things moving forward. Bit-by-bit, I've been following up on ideas and posts that came out of October's meetup and developing materials for our next meetup. Acquia is graciously donating some of my time to support our group's initiative, so I'm working on this all day today. As soon as we have a good hashtag I'll tweet some updates. In the mean time, if you're interested to help develop materials, lead a break out group at the next meetup, or do anything else to contribute to November's activity, please contact me.

Until we have a better name for this contribute-to-core-and-work-your-way-up-the-ladder project, I’m just going to refer to this as, “The Boston Initiative”.
