Good morning,

I just wanted to give everyone a quick status report on Florida DrupalCamp 2012 and to let everyone know of some areas where we're looking for some additional help. We have a great group of volunteers already (24 at my last count), but we need some more to make this not only the best DrupalCamp we've seen in Florida, but also one of the best in the world. We've got a great location partner (Rollins College Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Center), a great fiscal partner (Central Florida Computer Society), now we just need a few more volunteers to help us pull it all off.

First, a quick update: Florida DrupalCamp 2012 will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 with Coding for a Cause the following day. Registration is now open - tickets are currently $20, but the price will slowly creep upward as we get closer to the event (so register today!). Session proposals will be open shortly - if you'd like to propose a session, you'll have until the end of December to do so. We've got a great group of sponsors, including our Platinum sponsor: Trellon, and our Gold sponsors: Big Couch Media Group, Software Quality Engineering, Mediacurrent, and DrupalEasy. Additional sponsorships are still available, contact me if you're interested.

We're still looking for some help in some key areas to make this the best DrupalCamp ever. The areas include:

  • Facilities: this person will work with Rollins to ensure that we have access to everything we need, when we need it. This person will also be responsible organizing the rental of several large tents for our new outdoor common area and coordinating with Rollins Catering to make sure we have the necessary tables, chairs, and whatever else is needed.
  • Registration: this person will monitor the registrations, and deal with any issues that come up. This person will also be responsible for organizing the registration table the day of the event and managing the other (day of) registration volunteers.
  • Signage: this person will be responsible for determining the number and types of signs we'll need, taking the design of the signs and having them printed, then posting the signs the day of the event.
  • Common area: this person will be responsible for organizing the common area and scheduling volunteers to man the common area all day during the camp to answer questions, provide information, etc...
  • Marketing: we have several people already helping with Marketing, but we can use a few more people to help get the word out on relevant web sites, mailing lists, sending emails to previous camp attendees, etc... We could also use someone to write weekly articles for the web site about the progress of the camp, new announcements, etc...
  • Coding for a Cause: we're looking for some additional people to help out as project managers for Coding for a Cause. This will involve working with the "client" prior to the event to gather requirements and content, and plan as much of the site as possible prior to the day of the event.
  • Swag organizer: this person will be in charge of contacting sponsors to arrange/organize for any swag that sponsors would like to provide to attendees. This person will be responsible for collecting the swag, then organizing it for distribution during the event. This include book (and other) giveaways.

Thanks,
-mike

Mike I'd like to help with marketing - I'll talk to you about it at the meetup on Monday.

I'd be glad to help out with the registration and Coding for a Cause and signage.
