Whoohoo - we're 26 members strong, but is anyone actually doing anything?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Well, we've now got 26 people in the Santa Cruz group - thanks to Rob for setting this up.
As far as I can tell, this group is pretty much inactive, though. Aside from a few generic Bay Area job postings, I haven't seen much going on in the 'Cruz regarding Drupal.

Is anyone using Drupal for any community, social, business, or professional websites?
Is anyone in this group working in/on other Drupal groups that they might recommend?
Anyone from Quiddities/KUSP care to update us on their latest?

C'mon, I know Santa Cruz is a sleepy/stoney little beach town, and we would all rather be surfing . . . but it's 50 degrees outside and the water is COLD! Are we doing this Drupal-style or not?

Hey, hey, hey.

Don't worry, Quiddities isn't dead. We've been slaving away over our overheated laptops, cookin' up a sweet KUSP website. Check out http://www.kusp.org/econ/ to see one of our test pages. It's a little wonky, but trust me, the one we're building is way cooler. We're currently moving over the archives.

Also, Madge will be reppin' the SC at DrupalCon09. She's going to make lots of friends and they're all going to think, "OMG, Santa Cruz is so Drupal!"

We have a handful of Drupal sites for nonprofits in the works. If you'd like to volunteer for a good cause, while getting some baseline Drupal publishing experience, and creating some super-sweet multimedia, you should email me [desiree@quiddities.com]. We need do-gooders, citizen journalists, bloggers, entrepreneurs, and geeks of all persuasions for in-progress and upcoming projects.

Happy Drupaling,

Dre

I've been working with Drupal since early 2004. I noticed the Santa Cruz group awhile back so I joined but didn't notice much happening here. My current contract project is with Drupal 6 for a very large vacation website. I has been a lot of fun and I've really been enjoying version 6. I'm not sure I'll make the meetup but who knows. I'm curious what other SC folks are up to as well.

definitely drupal activity in scruz!

I've been working in Drupal since 2006, almost exclusively in the music world, and it is now driving almost all of our new big sites that we are developing. I have way more Drupal work than we can handle so am looking for talented module writers, themers, and folks to config (set up content types, etc). I'd really love to support some local folks in our community so if that's you, drop me a line. Recent Drupal site launches include bobdylan.com, davematthewsband.com and beastieboys.com.

Everyone should make sure to come out to the first SCDUG meeting on the 30th that Rob Knight and I are working on-- it'll be a good chance to rub shoulders and talk about what everyone is most interested in getting out of such regular meetups.

Margaret from Quiddities and Steve from KUSP and I had a great time at DrupalCon and I feel a lot of good momentum for great things for Drupal in Santa Cruz.
