What sms gateways are people using?

I have a primary school keen to develop an SMS alert/reminder system next year. I put them off till next year, just because i had not researched the sms provider market yet. So I'll watch this thread with interest.

one of the key things we needed was short turnaround between when the request is sent and when the sms is received.
some providers give you cheaper rates because they route the SMS around the world, put in "off peak" queues in other countries, but the SMS can take a long time to actually send.
if speed is something you need to consider, make sure you check how your requests are handled.

I have a couple of cron jobs that send out SMS messages through SMS Global's HTML API as well as manual messages I send out using the Web UI. I am very happy with their service.
