Looking forward to this meet up
Greetings, I am new to the Boise Drupal Group but the subject matter of this meetup sure coincides almost eerily with a project I am deeply involved with so I simply cannot ignore the potential benefit to be gained from this for me as well as my team.
Please alert me if for any reason this meeting gets moved or cancelled, otherwise I look forward to meeting some of you.
Jan 10 Meeting Notes
I like have notes from the meeting and links to content shown. Here is my takeaway from last Tuesday night's meeting:
James Glasgow gave us a presentation on how they stage their code at Imbee in moving code from the a development server to a staging server, and then finally to production for the Imbee website using their git repository to move the code from the dev branch to the staging branch to the production or master branch. As code as moved is moved from one branch to the next in the Git repo, an auto-update cron job is running in the background that automatically updates the code on the respective server every 2 minutes so that it can be tested at each point along the way. Jame's primary tool for doing is a GUI Git Utility called Tower which runs on a Mac. The advantage to Tower is the ability to be selective about what gets moved from branch to branch, in Jame's words "Cherry Pick" the code he wants to move to production via the staging server.
Another group member provided another Git Flow Example from nvie.com, a fairly extensive example that can be viewed A Succesful Git Branching Model. A related PDF can be downloaded from Git Branching Model PDF

Accessing Links in notes
Due to the Drupal Groups editor which requires that links be entered in the form of double brackets and a piping symbol, you have to read the notes on the Boise Drupal Group site in order to be able to click through to the links.
