We held our Broward Drupal monthly meetup on Wednesday, December 14th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Participants:
Remote:
Los Angeles via Lakeland, FL - Christefano Reyes @christefano
Boynton Beach - Mark Laymon @MarkLaymon

In Person (Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Florida):
Jay Epstein @jeppy64
John Everett @Agile_dot_TV
Me @hectoriribarne

We are now using http://Join.me for screen sharing and Skype for audio. My New Year's resolution is to post the Broward Drupal meeting minutes within a few days of our meetup instead of the 21 days it took make this post. Keep in mind that if you cannot make it to our meetup in person, you can always participate remotely via Skype and Join.me (we send out the link to the Join.me session via Skype at the start of the meetup).

Jay Epstein (@jeppy64 http://jay-epstein.com) presented Multilingual Development Strategy in D7. Jay's presentation was an introduction creating a D7 multilingual site. He talked about using the Entity API and the i18n module for multilingual sites. Jay used the following two articles as a reference:

Localized and Multi-Lingual Content in Drupal 7
http://www.lullabot.com/articles/localized-and-multi-lingual-content-dru...

Drupal 7's new multilingual systems - Menu languages and translation
http://hojtsy.hu/blog/2011-nov-19/drupal-7s-new-multilingual-systems-par...

In addition to the main topic discussed above, we spent the rest of the meetup talking about coworking in South Florida and Los Angeles. Christefano also shared what the Drupal community in Los Angeles is doing, and we learned a lot about how we can make our meetup better. We were all very glad to have Christefano participate in our meetup. It just shows what different local Drupal groups can learn from each other.

I think that the general discussion after the fact is as interesting as any Drupal discussion.

It's good to just get out of the house and chat with people that are interesting :)

Thanks!
