After the last meeting, and some javascript hacking over the last couple of days, Smart Dates is now out as a Drupal module - http://drupal.org/project/smart_dates. If this looks interesting to anyone for their use cases, please give it a spin, and provide feedback. I'm happy to debug any issues that might arise.
