When and where? Should we be online? I have some Filipino friends who use Drupal too but they are abroad. I am currently located at Quezon City but I work in Manila.
I have been using Drupal for more than a year now, I think. I have not dived much into contributing into modules development but I hack my own whenever I can for my own purposes. I have also used Drupal in creating websites for others, voluntarily and for profit.
I am interested in a meet-up, preferably in Metro Manila. The needs of my customers are getting more and more dynamic and challenging, and I may need some form of paid help eventually. I am aware that there might actually be more Drupal users spread all over the country and I hope they can be made aware of this group. Heck, I only learned of this group only now and yet I've been using and abusing Drupal since 2005.
Well just so we can all meet up for the first time, let's set something quick and dirty. I volunteer somewhere in Ortigas. Let's make it coincide salary days (15 or 30). Any takers?
Could you recommend a place in Ortigas with open WIFI access? I'm not really familiar with WIFI-enabled cafes but I think that would bring our meet up to a broader audience throughout the country, especially for those who are in the provinces or elsewhere who are also interested in this meet up. If we do get to meet, we should be able to lay down some agenda and objectives; because if not, what would be the point, right?
Of course in my opinion, the general objectives would be to:
Spread the use of Drupal through Filipino IT entrepreneurs, geeks, hobbyists and lay people.
Develop a country-wide knowledge base on our experiences in using Drupal, including best-practices for each type of web-based niche.
Provide a voluntary (organizational) support system for Drupal users, which is actually already done by the Drupal website itself. Hmmm... I'm thinking of bringing down the support system to a more personal level because the Drupal website is admittedly more than enough, I think.
Cater to the technical needs of a few environmental and humanitarian groups concerning the use of Drupal - this would make a great marketing strategy.
For guys, to be able to meet chics. For chics, to be able to meet guys. LOL :-D
What else would you suggest?
We could set a tentative date already. I believe there are already a lot of highly experienced Drupalites in DigitalSolutions.ph. Maybe you guys can spearhead this meet up. :-D
there's free wifi in the following areas of ortigas:
Podium
Robinsons Galeria.
if u know other wifi sites (makati is in mind), that would be okay too. or else, everyone could meet up in our office --- there's wifi here hehe (but we would have to go down for snacks).
I understand that, in your office, maybe WIFI can be made freely available for the time being of this meet-up, but will the snacks be offered free too? :-D
Anyways, we should be hearing more from other locals who are interested - it may turn out that there would be only 2 or 3 in physical attendance here outside of DigitalSolutions.ph. That would be pretty sad, I think. I guess a minimum of 12 physical attendees (para magic 12 hehehe) would be nice, where only DigitalSolutions.ph personnel will be counted once only - if the meet-up is going to take place in your office.
Just discovered this group when I Googled "philippine drupal". :) Nice to know there's an effort to organize Philippine Drupal users. A meet-up would be nice. I'm from QC. :)
Sorry, saw your message just now. Thanks. :) My sites are 4.7 versions. The modules are contributed modules from the Drupal site -- modified the userreview module a bit to fit my sites. You just have to find the appropriate module for your particular need. :)
I'd like to keep in touch with Filipinos who are in the same interest with drupal.
Game din ako, mrncaballero, pero hindi tayo talo at ako rin ay naghahanap ng Pinay Drupal user hahaha.
A couple of meet ups were also planned in the past and saludo ako sa Digital Solutions sa kanilang patuloy na pag-aabang sa mga meet up na iyon pero sadly hindi ako maka-attend sa mga skeds presented (the one with a symposium on FOSS).
I have two heads but I may only be counted once. :-D Count me in anywhere basta't within Metro Manila. Pwede rin siguro sa malapit na baybayin basta't may swimming pool o beach o picnican.

Hello again! Long time no see.
Three months have passed since I've visited this page. It's just recently that I have read the new comment since I forgot to subscribe to this group. Don't worry frida... because I think the meeting did not push trough.
Anyway guys, I've been busy doing Drupal work since I encountered clients who also became interested.
My biggest client would be Gawad-Kalinga, and they want a site for 1 Million Users! God help me... I've been struggling on many things about web-development right now, and it would help if I could meet people who could... you know... inspire me.
So, in order to pursue my plan... I wish to organize a Drupal event, if possible, at Asia Pacific College. My alma mater-turned-headquarters, APC is one of the top I.T. schools in the Philippines. Not to be confused with UA&P which is a totally different school, APC is a foundation found by IBM and SM. Yup! And what I could do is to organize an event in our school. You're right! And it's all about Drupal.
Here's the deal (In Tagalog):
* Kapag ba na schedule ako nang event, sino-sino ang pupunta?
* Kelan favorable sa lahat?
* Ok na ang venue, maybe pati food kasi hahanap nang sponsors pero... pano ang activities?
* Sino gustong tumulong mag-plano?
With the looks of it, I'm brewing a DRUPAL CAMP!!!!
Kaya nang superpowers ko, but I have to know if there's an interest group.

Drupal Meet, revived
O, nabuhay ulit ang talk about a meet-up.
Sa Ortigas ang suggestion namin originally dahil pwede tayo sa office namin. Free coffee! :) Plus marami sa office namin ang Drupal users.
Makati is okay din. Headcount nga tayo. How many of you would like Makati? How many in Ortigas? How many are okay for both?
Salamat,
benx
