<shibby> Hello TriDUG peeps
<CGMonroe> 'lo
<paulthed> hola
<shibby> looks like we've got a good crowd here
<shibby> let's get started
<CGMonroe> k
<CGMonroe> hey barb
<shibby> oh, it's that kinda party
<shibby> welcome barbbar
<shibby> let's get going
<CGMonroe> lol
<shibby> so, i realized after setting the date for the next meetup that the Carolina at  NC State game is that night
<shibby> but it's at 9m, so it will only impact social time ;)]
<shibby> or enhance it
<CGMonroe> or have part of tridug fight and never see each other again
<shibby> For topics, what do you guys think about DrupalCon
<SteveCory> UNC vs. NC State on Tuesday, February 21st at 8:00pm on ACCN-TV
<shibby> ah, it is at 8pm, bummer
<SteveCory> GO HEELS
<barbbar> :)
<CGMonroe> DrupalCON sounds interesting... say more
<shibby> maybe we just have a meet-up for an hour if that will impact people, otherwise, I have DVR :)
<shibby> DrupalCon is coming up on March 19
<shibby> http://denver2012.drupal.org/
<SteveCory> http://denver2012.drupal.org/
<shibby> not sure if there is anything we wanted to do before the con
<shibby> it probably makes sense to do summaries and recaps afterwords
<shibby> hi timswezy, welcome back barbbar
<barbbar> 8-)
<CGMonroe> Yeah, we generally try to do that
<timswezy> Hi everyone, semi-lurking :)
<CGMonroe> Number of folks going tends to be 2-3
<CGMonroe> from TriDUG
<CGMonroe> Did your prez get voted in?
* SteveCory did not get approved to go to DrupalCon :(
<shibby> Christina Dulude pinged me and she's going, but I think she moved from the area
<shibby> I've got all my travel and things booked already!
<shibby> so what do we want to do this month for our meet-up?
<CGMonroe> Anyone have a site to showcase?
<CGMonroe> There has been a lot of interest around Mobile
<shibby> paulthed: really bummed i missed your preso last month :(
<SteveCory> I'm still going over the info from the DrupalCon in London http://london2011.drupal.org/conference/sessions/accepted
<CGMonroe> not sure we can get folks together for this one.
<barbbar> I'd love to hear from someone who has set up a great dev-staging-prod environment with version control.
<paulthed> shibby:  that's alright.  we had a pretty good turnout last month. Really good turnout at DesignHamer
<paulthed> Barbbar:  I would interested in that topic as well
<shibby> i like that idea barbbar
<CGMonroe> Hmm, I'm actually playing with Git and submodules right now
<shibby> anyone have something to share with that or know someone we can ping?
<barbbar> trick is to find someone who has done it!!
<CGMonroe> And to match it to different folks workflow needs
<CGMonroe> what works for a "large" shop probably doesn't work for a 1 person shop
<shibby> I wonder if there are any folks from any colleges that have a robust set-up
<barbbar> I'm workiing with some folks at UNC - they have a multi-site environment with no version control....
<CGMonroe> I set up a subversion based system here that works OK
<dmp1ce> I won't be able to make the next meeting, but using a build_kit model for my next project.  It involves, git, drush make.
<notzach> CGMonroe: we're using git and submodules for everything
<notzach> and aegir and jenkins
<notzach> for all of our hosting
<notzach> well, moving foward, we've got ~50 instances being managed with it right now
<CGMonroe> Does aegir support Windoze yet?
<notzach> nope, i doubt it ever will
<notzach> it needs symlinks
<CGMonroe> sigh, IT here limits us to WAMP
<notzach> ouch
<notzach> we run it on RHEL
<SteveCory> I'm not using a version control system. I have production and test for each and a shell that copies the production+database to test. I use drush for updates
<barbbar> Maybe the first time we talk about this it could be this kind of discussion - what are folks using, what do they need - and then we tailor a more focused preso on specific things that come out of that?
<CGMonroe> That sounds good
<barbbar> Pros/cons of GIT/SVN, etc.
<shibby> that works, we don't have to have a formal presentation
<paulthed> I like it
<CGMonroe> maybe a quick 10 minute "why version control" intro?
<barbbar> sounds like a lot of folks are doing a lot of different things
<dmp1ce> Aww.. I wish I could make it. :(
<notzach> where do you guys do the meetup?
<CGMonroe> this month it's in Raleigh @ Redhat
<barbbar> And if someone could do an overview of the difference between the version control options
* SteveCory looks at Jason (shibby)?
<SteveCory> Is it still going to be on the 21st even?
<shibby> SteveCory: did I miss something?
<shibby> SteveCory: yes, I've got the room booked unless we need to move the date
<shibby> feb 21 7pm at Red Hat
<SteveCory> I thought the game would be a deterring factor on the date
<shibby> SteveCory: there aren't a lot of other options for Feb unless we look at the 27-29
<CGMonroe> Maybe only the length of program?
<shibby> I think we run the show for an hour
<CGMonroe> The game probably won't start until 8:15... if we wrap up 8:30ish then folks can get home for the 2nd half?
<shibby> go for a meet-up lite this month
<CGMonroe> OK... who's for a short program this month?
<CGMonroe> +1
<SteveCory> +1
<barbbar> +1
<paulthed> shibby:  is your presentation all set for Drupalcon?
<paulthed> +1
<shibby> CGMonroe: 2 secs and I'll post what I have so far
<shibby> paulthed: my talk didn't get accepted this year :(
<paulthed> shibby:  oh, that's too bad. I was assuming you were speaking again
<CGMonroe> need to watch survivor more to keep from being voted off the island...lol
<shibby> 6:30pm Meet & greet
<shibby> 7:00pm Announcements, job postings, need a job, general TriDUG business
<shibby> 7:15pm Version control and production/development environment discussion
<shibby> 7:45pm open
<CGMonroe> Since I do a lot of VC for work and a couple of Opensource projects, I'll volunteer to do a 10-15 overview of why it's important
<shibby> thats awesome CGMonroe
<SteveCory> need to watch The Walking Dead more to see what happens to Drupal Developers :)
<shibby> ok, here we go...
<shibby> 6:30pm Meet & greet
<shibby> 7:00pm Announcements, job postings, need a job, general TriDUG business
<shibby> 7:15pm Why version control is important - Greg Monroe
<shibby> 7:30pm Group discussion: Version control and production/development environment
<shibby> 8:00pm Wrap-up
<shibby> are we happy with that?
<paulthed> sounds good to me
<SteveCory> great Jason
<barbbar> cool!
<CGMonroe> Works for me... maybe expand on the group discussion definition in the post
<shibby> sure thing CGMonroe - i can do that
<CGMonroe> E.g. - round table talk about what people currently do, etc.
<CGMonroe> In other business... barb did you find out anything about meeting at the center for lunch?
<shibby> awesome, thanks everyone, I'll update the meetup info
<shibby> is there any other TriDug business other that CGMonroe's open question to barbbar
<shibby> CGMonroe: this topic has me thinking about how people are deploying in the cloud
<barbbar> cgmonroe: yes - we're good to go after TWC ups the bandwidth - likely in early March.
<shibby> that would be a good future topic
<shibby> i'm sure we can find someone to talk about that
<barbbar> If we don't need a lot of bandwidth (currently DSL), we can do it sooner.
<CGMonroe> Barbbar - sounds good, I may talk to the "underground" folks about an early March lunch thing
<CGMonroe> Thinking we need to follow up on the "Lets do lunch" success
<barbbar> Sounds good - I'll keep you posted on when the Center is upgraded!
<barbbar> Yes - definitely.
<shibby> cool
<CGMonroe> "Underground" = American Tobacco Campus folks
<shibby> thanks everyone for participating today
<shibby> see you next week!
<paulthed> take care
<CGMonroe> l8r
<barbbar> Bye!
<Druplicon> I'll miss you!!
<CGMonroe> Druplicon needs to buy us BEER
<CGMonroe> sigh I never can get Drupicon to respond to drinks comments anymore
<SteveCory> :)
