What is the difference between "OpenScholar" and "OpenScholar Virtual Site"?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I'm not sure what the significance of OpenScholar Virtual Site is., or even really, what it is.

It's listed as a subproject of OpenScholar, and my inclination is that it is the bundle of modules to install in sites/modules to enable a regular Drupal site with all of the OpenScholar functionality.

Is this correct? And if not then what?

If it is correct, are there any issues I should watch out for when installing and also, is it safe to install all in one fell sweep with Drush?

The URL for the [sub-]project is here: http://drupal.org/project/openscholar_vsite and as is quite common, the explanations are quite terse and IMO, a bit confusing as to exactly what it is/does.

Thanks :)

You should download OpenScholar from our web sites at http://openscholar.harvard.edu/download . It contains everything you need including drupal core, contributed modules and our custom modules, including openscholar_vsite 8)

Thanks !

I believe the link you have posted to the openscholar vsite files are the customized modules that create the sub-sites within OpenScholar (the ones that are created by the role Scholar Admin), without Drupal core files. So - if you wanted that functionality on a different Drupal install profile, the OS team has packaged the modules for you to add them to your site.

I'm trying to grapple with the same issue. Is that right, Vsite? Can I use OpenScholar virtual site as a package of modules to update Drupal Core into a working OpenScholar?

Thanks for your help.
