We are looking to redevelop our website using Drupal. One of the requirements is to have different departments to look after their own pages. What is the best strategy to implement this? Is using Organic Groups the way to go? Also, we would like to get some advice on multi-site setup in Drupal as well. Any web design companies in Perth can provide this kind of Drupal consultancy services? Thanks in advance.

It all depending on how
It all depending on how segregated you want the areas on the site to be. But from your basic description of the problem you are trying to solve I think the Organic groups will be over kill and create other issues that you will not really need to deal with.
For a start I would look at if you really need access control within the website, (I am assuming that only people from within your company are posting/updating content). And really just setting global permissions will work for you, other other options are using something like TAC (taxonomy access control) will stop people from talking across departments.
If you would like to talk more you can contact me via my contact page http://drupal.org/user/959/contact

My Approach would be: OWN
My Approach would be:
OWN PAGES
Assign different Content Types - One for Each Department
Assign Roles According to Departments and link it to the content type.
When an user signs on the Admin will assign them a role according to the department.
MULTI-SITE
I personally would stay clear of the Multi-Site. I have used them before I'm sure there's many great reasons to use them,
but although you halve your time with updating modules, you also increase your risk of crashing your sites,
I lost a couple sites on a multisite because I didn't backup before running an upgrade. My mistake,
but it demonstrates the risk potential.

Try domain access
Hi Chan
Perhaps you could try domain acces module. Again, your options would be based on what your needs are. Organic Groups and multi-site can be alternatives.
