Calendar Presentation: suplemental material

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hey all, I wanted to post a quick apology for tonight's presentation. I feel like a lot of material got glossed over which was entirely my fault for trying to cram a couple hours of (ideally hands-on) material into a 45 minute talk. I'm going to post up some additional materials and related links in the next couple of days to try to shed a little more light on some of the areas that didn't get covered well or got skipped entirely due to time constraints.

Item the first: a quick writeup on Views arguments.

Item the 2nd: a list of modules used in my calendar implementation

A good presentation on using jquery media to turn file fields into embedded media players. I used this technique to add some fields for demo material to the performer content type

Here's some stuff on implementing hook_search(). Note the code examples are all for Drupal 5 but can easily be updated to work with 6.

I found your talk very valuable, but am also glad some of this info is available in more depth. Even though I've already built an events calendar using Calendar, Date, Views and CCK, a lot of the talk still went over my head. :-\ I look forward to diving into these when I work on v.2.0 of my calendar.

Clearly my presenting skills need work

If it went over your head then clearly I didn't do a very good job. Some of the things I hope to improve on the next time I present include:

  • topic selection. it was a failure on my part to pick such an involved topic for a 45 minute presentation.
  • staying on topic. I skipped around in the material a lot, some of it was nerves.

Any other suggestions or feedback are definitely welcome. Also, if there is any other supplimental material you think would be useful to you on this topic let me know.
