World Drupal Day?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi Local Organizers,

Is there any official World Drupal Day like World Plone Day? A bunch of us North Carolina organizers have been discussing joint activities and it would be neat to have some of them on World Drupal Day.

It seems like the mission of World Plone Day could easily be applied to a World Drupal Day:

No matter where you are, meet Plone Drupal and discover the benefits of using it in education, government, non-profits, and business.

I like this idea a lot.
I wonder how we would get this done? I'll hit the association up with this.

I have been noticeably absent from GDO for a while. Now that the www.CMSexpo.net is over I am back in full swing.

If someone starts it we'll do something to "honor" it here in Dallas. Everyone wear Drupal t-shirts that day or Drupal hats or something. I'm sure we can think of something better...but good idea!

it wouldn't be at all like World Plone Day .

Any World Drupal Day -- hopefully we can think up a less derivative name -- volunteer coordinators stepping up?

I'll bet we can get some a.d.o support.

It'd be nice to have a date that people can crowd around to say "yay, Drupal" but out in L.A., that's everyday! Okay, self promotion aside, I think choosing the date Drupal was released to the public or became GPL is a good candidate. Groups can then figure out how they will celebrate it.
