Transcript of Friday meeting.
[11:53am] hofmockel: test
[11:54am] hofmockel: going with copy paste at the end
[11:55am] jrearick: easy solution
[11:55am] hofmockel: http://groups.drupal.org/node/136494
[11:59am] jrearick: So, yesterday someone mentioned doing something with the Nebraska group if we feel the Iowa camp wouldn't attact enough people. Holding it in Council Bluffs/Omaha.
[11:59am] jrearick: but if most of the organizers are in central iowa, it would be a lot of extra work
[11:59am] hofmockel: where in Omaha?
[12:00pm] jrearick: There wasn't a specific venu mentiond, just someone throwing stuff out there.
[12:00pm] hofmockel: we got 65+ last year with short notice
[12:00pm] jarodms joined the chat room.
[12:01pm] hofmockel: Location is absolutely on the table
[12:01pm] DrDogwelder joined the chat room.
[12:01pm] hofmockel: thinking about iowa states facility
[12:02pm] jrearick: Hi Jarod. Michael and I were just starting to talk about the camp.
[12:02pm] hofmockel: universities have the networking needs mostly solved
[12:02pm] hofmockel: hey J
[12:02pm] jarodms: Twin Cities is having theirs in May. Hofmockel, like you said summer dates might be nice due to college being out.
[12:02pm] hofmockel: Hello dr dorwelder
[12:03pm] DrDogwelder: Howdy hofmockel
[12:03pm] DrDogwelder: and everyone else
[12:03pm] jarodms: hello all.
[12:04pm] jrearick: If we are looking for cheap space, we would have to defer to class schedules, so only on the weekends. Otherwise, there are several venues on or around campus that cost to rent. (probably not cheap).
[12:05pm] hofmockel: if university, we would need to be several weeks prior to start of school. July?
[12:05pm] hofmockel: last year september
[12:05pm] hofmockel: http://2011camp.drupalcorn.org/
[12:05pm] hofmockel: would love to see two day event
[12:05pm] jrearick: Classes start Aug 20
[12:05pm] hofmockel: the evening event is very important for networking
[12:06pm] jarodms: Fri - Sat?
[12:06pm] hofmockel: people at drupalcon talked about doing a Friday-Saturday event
[12:06pm] hofmockel: right
[12:06pm] hofmockel: mostly to attract more (sorry) 9-5ers
[12:07pm] jarodms: first vote: July 27-28
[12:07pm] hofmockel: talked with greggles and he was willing if schedule worked out
[12:07pm] hofmockel: I assume you to Dave?
[12:08pm] jarodms: second vote: June 15-16. Is that too soon to pull together?
[12:08pm] jrearick: June may be too soon
[12:09pm] jrearick: are you going off your schedule jarod?
[12:09pm] hofmockel: No. we would just need to be more realistic about what we can accomplish
[12:10pm] jarodms: just picking some dates to get it started. other options?
[12:10pm] hofmockel: We could potentially rent large room or rooms
[12:11pm] hofmockel: Palmer paid for space, marketing and snacks + Coffee
[12:11pm] jrearick: Are we thinking just on Track or do we want to have multiple meetinig rooms?
[12:11pm] jrearick: *one track
[12:11pm] hofmockel: multiple
[12:12pm] jrearick: and we had over 65 wanting to attend last year. What do we think the scale of this event would be?
[12:12pm] jrearick: 100, 150?
[12:13pm] hofmockel: attraction will go up with evening event. Two day
[12:14pm] hofmockel: camps seem to be approuching 400 size
[12:14pm] hofmockel: if we could double I would see it as a great success
[12:14pm] jarodms: anyone know what twin cities count was last year?
[12:14pm] hofmockel: i went
[12:15pm] hofmockel: sub 400
[12:16pm] hofmockel: two key speakers. more? one.
[12:16pm] hofmockel: two
[12:16pm] jarodms: two
[12:17pm] jrearick: One per day
[12:17pm] hofmockel: I think Omaha is out unless we have a local champion.
[12:18pm] hofmockel: I am willing to pursue july at iowa state. where is vandyk
[12:20pm] jrearick: Is he interested in helping organize?
[12:21pm] hofmockel: not really but I love his opion
[12:21pm] clouseau joined the chat room.
[12:22pm] hofmockel: there
[12:22pm] hofmockel: yea john
[12:22pm] jrearick: lol. speaking of
[12:22pm] • clouseau continues smacking head against rhev scsi initiators
[12:22pm] pyrello joined the chat room.
[12:25pm] jarodms: July at Iowa State sound good to everyone?
[12:25pm] jrearick: Sounds good to me
[12:25pm] pyrello: Sure.
[12:25pm] jrearick: shooting for 27,28?
[12:26pm] jarodms: a couple options for dates to see if people are open?
[12:26pm] jarodms: and space too.
[12:26pm] jarodms: ahhh.. Fri the 13th?
[12:26pm] jrearick: we do hve the first couple weeks in August before school starts as well
[12:26pm] jarodms: jk
[12:26pm] hofmockel: where are people?

[12:27pm] hofmockel: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=202618167068968623200.0...
[12:27pm] jrearick: What is that supposed to show?
[12:28pm] clouseau: Manitoba.
[12:29pm] hofmockel: ames
[12:29pm] pyrello: Iowa City
[12:29pm] hoersche joined the chat room.
[12:29pm] hofmockel: hello hoershe. where you from?
[12:30pm] hoersche: Same as Jarod, Iowa City
[12:30pm] hofmockel: there are some people in Omaha
[12:30pm] hoersche: been helping with DrupalHawks, run the Univ of Iowa Drupal Users Group
[12:31pm] hofmockel: how big is that group?
[12:31pm] hofmockel: got a site?
[12:31pm] hoersche: UIDUG? about 15 regular attendees. have had up to 40 previously.
[12:32pm] hoersche: imfo1.bo.uiowa.edu/uidug
[12:32pm] hoersche: (soon to be uidug.org)
[12:32pm] hofmockel: nice url baby
[12:33pm] hoersche: yep. snapped up drupalhawks.org as well
[12:33pm] jarodms: sweet
[12:36pm] hofmockel: ok. we have people willing to peruse a July two day meeting at Iowa state university or other. Do we need a second date? I think so. July Friday, Saturday. 13, 20 , 27?
[12:36pm] hofmockel: with two dates we email key speakers and at the same time hit sponsors.
[12:37pm] hoersche: whats the July date?
[12:37pm] hoersche: nm
[12:37pm] hofmockel: I can do 13th or 20th or 27th
[12:37pm] jrearick: I'm fine with any of those dates
[12:38pm] hofmockel: if 27 cancel local user meeting on the 30th
[12:38pm] hoersche: I may have a conflict (fiscal EOY at UI), but if it works for others I wont complain
[12:39pm] hofmockel: I say we go with two dates. Which one can't you do?
[12:39pm] jarodms: 20th would be my last choice
[12:39pm] hoersche: don't know yet, haven't been givenEOY schedule yet. hence, dont wait on me
[12:40pm] hofmockel: I can contact greggles, robert douglas, jam at acquia. Dave Reid, John VanDyk, Neil DrummPublishers:
[12:41pm] hofmockel: Boombatower
[12:41pm] hofmockel: Soon as we have key speakers and location then sponsors then marketing
[12:42pm] hofmockel: I liked the relationship with Palmer last year.
[12:42pm] hofmockel: I get pounded with email from recruiters.
[12:42pm] hoersche: pardon my ignorance: Palmer?
[12:43pm] hofmockel: local IT Recruiter
[12:43pm] jrearick: before we advertise, or confim speakers dates do we want to nail down premire sponsers and then a venue?
[12:43pm] hoersche: roger
[12:43pm] hoersche: speaker/ssponsor: Milne from Dwolla?
[12:44pm] hofmockel: gdo user?
[12:44pm] hofmockel: for Milne
[12:44pm] hoersche: hmm. will check
[12:44pm] clouseau: venues, in order of descending swank: Scheman, Gateway Center, Howe, Carver, Brenton, lawn in front of Curtiss
[12:44pm] jrearick: Does Dwolla do anything with Drupal, or would that be more of a general web interest keynote?
[12:45pm] jrearick: Venue option also Memorial Union
[12:45pm] hoersche: http://drupal.org/project/dwolla
[12:45pm] hoersche: Commerce module addon
[12:45pm] hofmockel: gateway center with its hotel and bar could be cool
[12:45pm] jarodms: bar
[12:46pm] hoersche: Ben Milne is not on gdo
[12:46pm] hofmockel: could support 4 large rooms??? more?
[12:46pm] jrearick: Brenton (where we have been holding regular meetings) will not be an option for a larger group as most of our rooms will be out of commission for construction.
[12:47pm] jrearick: If we can get the Business building rooms, the might work as well
[12:47pm] hoersche: If you want to move east, I can check on availability here at UIowa.
[12:48pm] hofmockel: The university connection should be considered. Lets continue about uiowa
[12:48pm] hoersche: everybody been to UI before?
[12:48pm] hofmockel: Most of our attendee will be driving
[12:48pm] clouseau: uiowa is probably a no-go for me
[12:49pm] hofmockel: centroid in Ames is good
[12:49pm] hoersche: There's the IMU, as well as multiple meeting rooms downtown, plus the Sheraton and Hotel Vetro conference/ballrooms
[12:49pm] jrearick: Never been on the campus, but venu proximity closer to bars and lodging I'm sure.
[12:50pm] hoersche: If you guys already have a setup that works in Ames/DSM, I'm definately down for that. Whatever gets the most people to attend
[12:51pm] jrearick: Ames may be a little closer to the Nebraska group as well
[12:51pm] hofmockel: Actions needed: contact sponsors, venue and key notes simultaneously. Might have to call some back latter and tell them who has come onboard and reconsider.
[12:52pm] hofmockel: I was thinking about nebraska. Lincoln is questionably drivable.
[12:52pm] hofmockel: We had attendees from the twin cities last year
[12:52pm] hofmockel: st. louis is 7hr drive
[12:52pm] jrearick: Do we have a reasonable goal for number of attendees and tracks? Makes a difference for how much to ask for and what venues can serve us.
[12:53pm] hofmockel: now we are starting to gamble. name your number.
[12:53pm] hoersche: are there already keynotes/other speakers in the pipe?
[12:53pm] hofmockel: i say we can double to 125 at least. who says hirer?
[12:54pm] hoersche: I'd think 150-200 would be smashing.
[12:54pm] jrearick: 150 sounds attainable.
[12:54pm] hofmockel: so your help hoershce at a key level is required to make 200.
[12:54pm] hofmockel: maybe more.
[12:54pm] jarodms: 150-200 would be great!
[12:55pm] hofmockel: Denver does 400
[12:55pm] hofmockel: st. louis say 300
[12:55pm] hofmockel: there is indiana camp
[12:55pm] hofmockel: and of course chicago!
[12:55pm] hofmockel: chicago 400
[12:55pm] hoersche: I can prob bring in about 15 attendees from this area easily. Rest would be new recruits. Depends on our tracks too
[12:56pm] hofmockel: new recruited (converts) is what we are looking to draw!
[12:56pm] hoersche: ie would we do a "drupal means business" style presentation
[12:56pm] hofmockel: Drupal vacuum must be filled
[12:56pm] hofmockel: explain hoershce
[12:56pm] hoersche: is this a Drupal Dyson vaccuum
[12:57pm] hofmockel: cyclone action
[12:57pm] hofmockel: yea!
[12:57pm] jarodms: kirby
[12:57pm] jarodms: so, 2 dates, then venue for 150-200?
[12:58pm] hoersche: drupal means business: set of the sponsor companies do a "what drupal can do for you" non-technical presentation set geared at biz owners and such, trying to get them to bite on Drupal
[12:58pm] hoersche: was one of the things the Drupal Association was pushing to do at Camps at their BoF at DCon12
[12:58pm] hofmockel: them in the same room with people who want to build is the idea
[12:58pm] hoersche: yep yep
[12:58pm] hofmockel: one of the ideas, excuse me
[12:59pm] hoersche: ALSO, Drupal Assoc is now avaiable to help with logistics for Camps, as well as finance and sponsor assistance. another large BoF point
[12:59pm] hoersche: so we need to contact them
[1:00pm] hofmockel: please email michael@hofmockel.org if you attended this chat and are willing to participate at any level.
[1:00pm] jrearick: The assoc. is able to assist on managing the money for the event, so we don't have to 503c ourselves?
[1:00pm] hofmockel: we need more on the line next week
[1:00pm] hofmockel: yes
[1:00pm] jarodms: yes.
[1:00pm] hoersche: @jrearicjL yes
[1:00pm] hofmockel: i talked to neil drum and other about money
[1:01pm] jrearick: awesome
[1:01pm] hofmockel: I like the idea of putting it in association hands
[1:01pm] hoersche: makes it all legit-like
[1:02pm] jarodms: nice
[1:02pm] hofmockel: they can do for us and the guy to ask is jacob reeding
[1:02pm] hofmockel: http://about.me/jredding
[1:02pm] hofmockel: Jarodms or hoershe want to email him about supporting us technically.
[1:02pm] hofmockel: they did just make 330k
[1:02pm] hoersche: ok
[1:03pm] hoersche: prob will want to know some specifics. what are we ready to pass along?
[1:03pm] hofmockel: I knight you drupal association communications officer
[1:03pm] davereid|work is now known as davereid|lunch.
[1:04pm] hoersche:
[1:04pm] hofmockel: I send email to jacob, neil, you and talk about our intent and introduce you via email.
[1:04pm] jrearick:
[1:05pm] hoersche: rockin'
[1:05pm] hofmockel: At Acquia our guy is Jam
[1:05pm] hoersche: I thought Jam was in Europe?
[1:06pm] hoersche: prob just heard him wrong
[1:06pm] hofmockel: https://plus.google.com/108706237718131668393/posts
[1:07pm] hofmockel: he is but i worked with him last year
[1:07pm] hofmockel: so he is place to start
[1:07pm] hofmockel: had lunch with robert douglas, jam at Con
[1:09pm] hofmockel: email to dave reid, neil drumm, john vandyk, travis tidwell, http://drupal.org/user/98581
[1:09pm] hofmockel: solisite key speaking
[1:10pm] hofmockel: Jim Berry and Jimmy Berry
[1:10pm] hofmockel: Gord from Gorton studios
[1:10pm] hofmockel: he sponsored last year
[1:10pm] jrearick: Web Fillings?
[1:11pm] hofmockel: are they on the line??
[1:11pm] jrearick: I dont' think they're in the room, but I heard they have some recruiting to do.
[1:12pm] hofmockel: I talked with some of them at Con and they had just lost and hired.
[1:12pm] hofmockel: they had person in denver
[1:13pm] hoersche: brb
[1:13pm] hofmockel: I'm going to spend time in this chat this week.
[1:13pm] jrearick: Their person in Denver left, and I think they are looking to hire 2 drupal people soon. They are also sponsoring IgniteAmes next week, so they sponsor things.
[1:14pm] hofmockel: we need materials for sponsor invite, key speaker invite so we send the same message
[1:15pm] hofmockel: Can we have that as a goal for next week?
[1:15pm] hofmockel: challenge! in great cartoon voice!
[1:16pm] hofmockel: two types of sponsors. Those sell materials, those hiring.
[1:16pm] jrearick: Should we plan on meeting here over noon next friday?
[1:16pm] hofmockel: yes please. Every Friday.
[1:16pm] jarodms: same time..same bat channel
[1:16pm] hofmockel: as I said I may be here (chat room) this coming week leading up to Friday.
[1:17pm] jrearick: I'll contact some venues around here to get some infomation about facilities, capacity, costs.
[1:17pm] hofmockel: Please email michael@hofmockel.org if you are interesting in participating at any level
[1:17pm] hofmockel: awesome
[1:18pm] jrearick: I'll put the call out to the WebSIG group on campus if there are any interested parties there. Perhaps univesrity departments are willing to sponsor?
[1:18pm] hoersche: cool beans. Unless I have conflicts, I will show up
[1:18pm] hofmockel: I think we also need to market this channel to a bigger audience to start the energy needed
[1:18pm] hoersche: I will chat with UofI ITS and see what they say
[1:18pm] hofmockel: Thank you
[1:19pm] hofmockel: they might have grant money to support speaker travels
[1:19pm] hoersche: we are going to a central Drupal service for all pub site
[1:19pm] hoersche: so my guess is they'd be interested
[1:19pm] hofmockel: Grant money is possible.
[1:20pm] jarodms: let me know what other groups to post to. Also will post sooner and send reminder sooner.
[1:20pm] hofmockel: Let's talk about how to pitch to this for university support
[1:20pm] jrearick: So, keynote open to the public, friday night?
[1:21pm] hofmockel: cool...
[1:21pm] hofmockel: I like doing free stuff. Everyone appreciates it.
[1:22pm] hofmockel: ok so jrearick look at local venue as does hoersche
[1:22pm] hoersche: univ support keys: accessibility sprints/focus, studenty CRM stuff, ******TRAINING*****, Drupal for Research
[1:22pm] jrearick: they way lectures grants work around here I figure they need it to be free/open
[1:23pm] hofmockel: lets get two then
[1:23pm] hofmockel: one each day!
[1:23pm] hoersche: I went to all the higher ed stuff I could at DrupalCon and there was way more EDUs there than previously
[1:23pm] hofmockel: it blowing up
[1:23pm] hofmockel: edu and gov are falling for drupal
[1:23pm] hoersche: the High Ed BoF had 75+ in attendance
[1:25pm] jrearick: BRB
[1:25pm] hofmockel: I'm fine with an edu track, a business track, and a big drupal track, drupal configuration track (this is a growing sector).
[1:25pm] hofmockel: theming track
[1:25pm] hoersche: other topics: Dev/Stage/Prod setups, Site Scaling & Load balancing & other high traffic stuff, "wtf is Git"
[1:25pm] hofmockel: they are hard to find
[1:26pm] hofmockel: thats what I mean by big drupal track
[1:26pm] hoersche: gotcha
[1:26pm] hofmockel: the tech of scaling drupal server, code and beyond
[1:26pm] pyrello: I would love to attend a discussion on best practices for setting up servers.
[1:26pm] hofmockel: Lets bring in the frey
[1:26pm] pyrello: specifically for drupal
[1:27pm] hoersche: note: need to nuance it as "non-cloud setups" and "cloud setups"
[1:27pm] hofmockel: we need to convert people from other systems to drupal
[1:27pm] hofmockel: so bringing in the frey is good
[1:28pm] hofmockel: like symphony guys! heehe
[1:29pm] jarodms: there's a few php'rs I can contact in cedar rapids.
[1:29pm] jrearick: Back
[1:29pm] hofmockel: might think of second key note outside of Drupal
[1:29pm] hofmockel: the it reciters love this stuff
[1:30pm] hofmockel: I would like to see the sponsors to be more diverse with a lot more locals.
[1:30pm] jrearick: We could probably get someone from a silicon 6th company in DSM
[1:30pm] hofmockel: really? what does that mean?
[1:31pm] jrearick: There are a buch of "tech" companies on 6th st. in Des Moines.
[1:31pm] hofmockel: o
[1:33pm] jrearick: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/interactive/article/20111020/BUSINESS/1...
[1:33pm] hoersche: Non-drupal topic thoughts: "how to be a tech startup in Iowa", Independent Iowa Networks (FTTH and such), Teaching Tech to an Aging Population...I could go on a long time
[1:34pm] hofmockel: if we hit 200 we can do 4-6 tracks
[1:35pm] jrearick: There's also a decent design and UX community on campus. Something I think is one of Drupal's weaknesses.
[1:35pm] hofmockel: absolutely
[1:35pm] hofmockel: ux please
[1:36pm] hoersche: ooh. we've got one too
[1:36pm] hoersche: in my dept even.
[1:36pm] hofmockel: there we go.
[1:37pm] jrearick: We have a whole graduate program in Human Computer Interaction
[1:37pm] hofmockel: ux is big here
[1:37pm] hoersche: touche
[1:37pm] hofmockel: lets tap them both
[1:37pm] hofmockel: introduce them to each other in a new way
[1:38pm] jrearick: The number of tracks we have also depends on what presenters we get.
[1:38pm] hoersche: ok. so if I am going to be the communications guy, if you chat somebody up please send me their details so I can start compiling the contact list
[1:39pm] hoersche: (logistics list)
[1:39pm] hoersche: hoerschelman@gmail.com and plz add DrupalCorn to the subject line
[1:40pm] hoersche: as, like Stephen Baldwin in Bio-Dome, I will be making a filter
[1:42pm] hofmockel: Have to step away. keep talking if you like. Invite others to this channel. I will be back here regularly. Thanks.
[1:42pm] jrearick: so. who is going to do all the session?
[1:43pm] hofmockel: ?
[1:43pm] hoersche: all the session?
[1:43pm] hoersche: all your base?
[1:43pm] jrearick: *all the sessions
[1:43pm] hofmockel: attendee driven
[1:43pm] jrearick: are we going to have a call for presenters?
[1:44pm] hofmockel: with proposals and voting
[1:44pm] hofmockel: absolutely
[1:44pm] hofmockel: COD
[1:44pm] hoersche: site for that? or gdo?
[1:44pm] hoersche: I see mr. hofmockel bought up drupalcorn.org
[1:44pm] hofmockel: http://drupal.org/project/cod
[1:44pm] jrearick: sounds good. my worry is not enough volunteers
[1:44pm] hofmockel: we need more volunteers
[1:45pm] hofmockel: will start to track people (volunteers and levels of commitment).
[1:45pm] hofmockel: Lots to do
[1:45pm] hoersche: yes yes
[1:45pm] hofmockel: organize our selves first
[1:45pm] hoersche: agile conference development
[1:46pm] hofmockel: theres a presentation in there somewhere
[1:46pm] hoersche:
[1:46pm] hofmockel: Want to do that with me hoershce?
[1:46pm] hoersche: will def give it a try
[1:47pm] hofmockel: yoda - there is no try...
[1:48pm] hoersche: I'll keep notes.
[1:48pm] jarodms: hofmockel want to grab the Twitter account?
[1:48pm] hofmockel: drupalcorn
[1:48pm] hofmockel: I got it
[1:48pm] hoersche: good thought. what other properties need secured?
[1:48pm] hofmockel: drupalcorn.org
[1:48pm] hofmockel: .com
[1:48pm] hofmockel: got it

I can't tell how decided this
I can't tell how decided this is, but would the DrupalCorn organizers want us in Omaha to start looking at possible venues? I think it could be very doable here for this summer.
Senior Drupal Developer for Lullabot | www.davereid.net | @davereid
Don't do July 27-28!
We are likely having a Midwest Developer Summit in Madison that weekend, so I'd recommend against those dates.
Oh no! Triple booked camps?
Capital Camp and Drupal Camp LA are also that weekend.
I really hope the midwest event is not the same weekend as DC and LA.
August 3/4th (10/11th) in Ames or Iowa City - 200 people?
Thank you DougVann and xjm for helping us know about these other events. Here is another conversation in channel #drupalcorn where we refine and propose new dates.
hofmockel: Looks like we have some potential date conflicts
[09:40am] hofmockel: I am most concerned with the midwest developer summit in Madison
[09:40am] jrearick: I think the weekend of July 27/28 is the busiest.
[09:40am] hofmockel: looks it
[09:40am] hofmockel: seems like we need to move it
[09:40am] jrearick: LA and DC might affect possible featured presenters.
[09:40am] hofmockel: right
[09:41am] hofmockel: I propose we move it to first week in August and we still need a backup date.
[09:42am] jrearick: davereid offered to look for venues in the Omaha area, or have we settled on Ames/DSM/IA City?
[09:44am] hofmockel: re: omaha: my concern is the centroid of the location compared to our perceived attendees
[09:44am] hoersche: I am hoping to get info back this week on IC/UI as a possibility. weekend time was commandeered by family
[09:45am] hoersche: Beginning of Aug works better for me anyway
[09:46am] hoersche: Aug 3/4, 10/11 as possible dates?
[09:47am] hofmockel: 10/11 is getting close to start of school and will likely eliminate those venues
[09:47am] hoersche: 3/4 then.
[09:47am] hofmockel: yes 3/4 is sounding like the new ideal
[09:48am] jrearick: Classes start Aug 20, so 10/11 would be okay afaik
[09:48am] hofmockel: k
[09:49am] hoersche: Ok. So...
[09:49am] hoersche: Choice #1: Aug 3/4
[09:49am] hoersche: Choice #2: Aug 10/11
[09:49am] jrearick: sounds good to me
[09:49am] hofmockel: so now we are talking 3/4 or 10/11
[09:50am] hoersche: And we are going for a crowd of 150-200 (trying to gauge largest room need)
[09:51am] hofmockel: call it 200
[09:51am] hofmockel: 4 rooms
[09:51am] jrearick: 4 rooms, about 5 each, plus one "keynote" room?
[09:51am] jrearick: *4 rooms 50 each
[09:52am] hofmockel: 4 tracks and 2 bof rooms
[09:52am] hofmockel: or box areas
[09:52am] hofmockel: box=bof
[09:52am] hoersche: ok. That would put us at the IMU as far as UI goes. Oddly enough I will have all the $$ #s for this already as I am on the UI Tech Forum planning committee and we have about the same #s. Ha!
[09:53am] hofmockel: $$??
[09:53am] hoersche: facility rental, food costs, av costs, etc
[09:53am] hoersche: some of which may be donated, just not sure what
[09:54am] hofmockel: from twin cites easier to get to ames/des moines
[09:54am] hofmockel: The intersection of 35 and 80 is not to be over looked
[09:54am] hoersche: absolutely.
[09:57am] hofmockel: you mean you know the costs not that you have money
[09:57am] hoersche: correct
[09:59am] hofmockel: We need to hear from people in the twin cities
[09:59am] hoersche: Poll on gdo:Iowa?
[10:00am] hofmockel: no polls please
[10:00am] hofmockel: These early decisions are highly tied to those that are going to champion them
[10:01am] hofmockel: So far the true champions are the hofmockel, hoersche, jrearick and jarod
[10:02am] hofmockel: jarodms
[10:02am] hoersche: For that list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdCrZfTkG1c
[10:02am] hoersche: brb
[10:05am] hofmockel: Seems like we are converging on Aug 3/4 or 10/11, 200 people with 4 tracks in Ames or Iowa City
[10:06am] hofmockel: I say we float that and see how it comes back
[10:08am] pyrello: For what it is worth, I will be on vacation for both of those weekends.
[10:11am] hoersche: back
[10:12am] hofmockel: I say we float the 3/4 or 10/11 with 200 people in 4 tracks in Ames or Iowa City
[10:12am] hofmockel: and see how that comes back
[10:13am] hofmockel: Sound ok hoersche
[10:13am] hofmockel: ?
[10:13am] hoersche: yep
[10:13am] hofmockel: I will copy this conversation and paste it into our running post
[10:13am] hofmockel: Then go get some billable hours
[10:13am] hofmockel: thanks guys

Dates and Places
I thoroughly enjoyed last year's one day intensive in Des Moines. I had thought maybe we would do a repeat, but I guess it was too successful for a single room/track/day.
Yea for the spots under consideration. My order of preference is
The first weekend in August is more comfortable than the earlier considered July dates.
I'm interested in most Drupal topics and would come even for general sessions or intro overviews. However, what I really want and need is real, hands-on intermediate training (module development, git and drush, deployment best practices, etc). I'm not sure if that fits or if it is something to consider for a separate occasion?
Omaha
If it comes to Omaha or nearby I might be able to get involved. I'll bet other Omaha/Lincoln people would, too.
I am excited for another Day
I am excited for another Day Camp. I would go Iowa City, Ames, Des Moines or even Omaha.
