Hi all
I apologise in advance if this is posted wrongly, since it is effectively an ad. However, this is not a poll, event or job. Should I have just emailed people I know? Tell me.
Anyway (to get to the point), I'm available for 4 weeks freelance Drupal development work via telecommute from Monday 7 May to Thursday 31 May. I work 4 days per week (typically Monday - Thursday) for approximately 8 hours per day, so this is a total of around 128 hours.
I'm reasonably well-known in the Oz Drupal community but here's a bit more about me for those who don't know me. I'm a 40-year-old computer scientist with about 24 years commercial software and database development experience, and postgrad studies in information systems engineering. I started building web apps in 1999 and converted from ASP to PHP/MySQL in 2001, so I have over 12 years PHP/MySQL under my belt. I'm a Zend Certified Engineer in PHP 5. I've been doing Drupal for over 3.5 years, mostly module development, data model design and 3rd party integration, but lots of theming and front-end dev also. I started with D5, then did loads and loads of D6, and have been working with D7 for about 1 year now. The best/latest D7 site made entirely by me (design, theming, site building, module dev, content migration, everything) is http://marssociety.org.au. Drupal is my business and my hobby - right now I'm building a new theme, new modules, and a new social network for space enthusiasts.
I participate in Drupal Melbourne meetups and occasionally give presentations, usually attend the mentoring sessions, and I also teach PHP, Drupal, CSS, HTML and JavaScript. I know PHP 5.3, HTML5 and CSS3, and lately I've been getting into SCSS and Compass. I provide consulting on Drupal to the Australian government's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry on behalf of the University of Melbourne - in fact, I will be going to Canberra to spend another day with them next week. (If you're interested, DAFF use Drupal for their biosecurity intelligence websites at http://aquatichealth.net and are developing similar sites like this.) I created http://drupalfinder.com.
I have a 1 month gap between my current contract and the start of my holidays, and I would like to be working during that time. As anyone who has worked with me can tell you, I hit the ground running and don't slow down. Just point me at the git repo and the issue queue, and watch things get done. Just ask some of the other Drupalers I've worked with, like Simon Hobbs, Dan Lennox and Nick Santamaria formerly of EmSpace, Matt McDougall from Moat Media, Mark Simpson and Ivan Grynenko from Peregrine, and many others. I'm fast, professional, experienced, talented, educated, ethical, knowledgeable, and a good communicator with excellent attention to detail.
Hit me up on shaun@astromultimedia.com if you need a hand during May. I'm offering a 20% discounted rate for working remotely.
Again, apologies if this was posted in the wrong spot!
Cheers,
Shaun
