How close to "production" ready is V2? Obviously the answer to that changes from day to day, but as of this date, there are not that many people using v2. Begs the question: with a new website under development with expected rollout in 2 to 3 months, should we develop 1.x or 2.x?
It is really a question of what does V2 bring to the table that V1 doesn't have, how buggy is V2, and how quickly is V2 development progressing.

V2. I spent a good amount of time developing with V1 and there are some serious limits there. The V2 has made some solid improvements. Even though it looks less than production ready, the developers behind OG in Drupal 7 are strong and are mainly focused on V2. It will work even if it's not labeled as perfect yet. You'd be wise to go with V2
