Feedback to get Community Media Theme to stable release

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Several sites have already started to use the development version of the Community Media Theme. The theme is in constant development. But for more stations to be able to use this theme effectively we are trying to roll out a stable version fairly soon.

To do this I'd need feedback from users who have installed the theme and had issues with it:
1) What issues have you had when installing the theme?
2) What configurations have you found difficult to understand?
3) What customizations would you like to do, but have found difficult to know how to?
4) Any general feedback on the theme is more than welcome, what's missing, what could be done differently etc.

Bugs should go to the issue tracker of the Community Media Theme project.

We do need to work on styling VODs, both VOD listings and individual VOD pages. Almost no work has been put into that yet.

More work also needs to be put into responsive issues, like responsive videos and images.

There are also several minor styling issues identified and being worked on, like lists, tables etc.

I'm looking forward to feedback from anyone who has started using cm_theme in one way or another! You are the user testers, and can test the theme in ways that we might not have anticipated and therefore not acocunted for yet. Once we have a stable version released we can continue improving and document it even further, and make it easier to use.

Nice Menu integration

synchlayer's picture

HI Daniel, I've only just started using CM theme, so have but one customization request right now.

I've installed Nice Menus to create drop down menus. Could you add CSS to either enable this for the current default Main Menu location or for use in the User Bar First region while applying the current visual style.

Cheers

Initial Configuration

After install I did see a black space for the header image but no image. I believe this was a step in the configuration. An issue with a block name < none > that must be moved from disabled to Header First.

The issue with the block name

The issue with the block name being < none > has been fixed in the latest dev version. I'm not sure the block can be placed in the Header First region by default. Kevin?

Resolution on Responsive Images

Is the configuration of Responsive Images a necessary component to a full scale implementation of the CM_Theme? Or is this a Slideshow issue?

Responsive Images is

westis's picture

Responsive Images is currently required by cm_slideshow and cm_header. We are yet to decide exactly how to handle responsive images for other cases, but Responsive Images module makes it easy to for example load a smaller image for mobile, but larger ones for desktop display.

Header image NOT on front page

How do we modify the header image on pages other than the front page? This is doable, but I am not sure what are the recommended steps to take to accomplish this.

cm_header module

1) Install the cm_header module
2) Add content of type Header Image
3) Upload a photo and choose conditions on where it should show
