Ok im a bit stumped.. been running Aegir for a while now on my real server so this is killin me!
For my local test environment, I switched from vmware workstation to virtualBox today using the turnkey linux LAMP, everything setup easy and I followed all the directions according to http://groups.drupal.org/node/24230 to prep for Aegir.
There is one caveat though... I have no FQDN ... though I can access Aegir fine with 192.168.150.77
I installed hostmaster Aegir and everything verified and all .. I did get one warning though...
Could not resolve IP address of webserver 192.168.150.77 Either set the web server name to a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) or hardcode the IP here.I think I hardcoded the IP correctly? ...placed it in the webserver node (IP address) field.
When attempting to create a site I foolishly entered 192.168.150.77/somesite.com thinking I might be able to skate by.. lol not happening.. got the warning...
You have not specified a valid url for this site.
o_O'
I have scowerd the net for hours trying to find a solution ... this is merely a virtual server accessible only thorough my LAN, do I truly need a real FQDN?

Doh! ... Vertice just
Doh! ... Vertice just reminded my about the wildcard dns instructions mentioned in the older screencast. How could I forget!!
Its workin now ^_^
Since I am using vista as my host os I also had to edit the /etc/hosts file there too.
But this time it worked, & Aegir sites install fast with the /etc/hosts in windows file being the only other step needed!
Im a happy camper, now my testbed is all aegir fantastical!
