I am in charge of developing a website for tour-group booking
In the detail I want that organizations (sport team, or a school, or a group of people) will have the possibility to organize all the trip in the website.
From accommodation to amusement and local transport(don’t need the flight or train to get there, just the local organization of the trip)
That means that in my web site I want to host several service suppliers, accommodation suppliers, transport supplier, sightseeing supplier and so on to advertise their offer
THIS SITE IS ONLY FOR GROUPS
These should result in a price policy different than individuals
Prices are intended for PAX, availability should be set form a minimum number of pax to a maximum number, and the pax-prices should change according the kind of accommodation customer will choose(if all 4 bed rooms for example or double bed or single room)
Should be possible for the advertiser to set a free pax each XX paying pax for example
Resuming, all the features that an advertiser need when dealing with groups instead of individuals
Also would be nice to have a basket
The basket feature should be a tool for the customer who using the site will try to estimate the tour-cost for a group. That means let’s say: the user will locate an hotel for 15 people, a bus, a tour of city, and it would have the total amount in the basket. If the user if not satisfied with the cost and want to change some supplier (hotel supplier or bus supplier or guided tour….) the total in the basket will be updated with new estimated costs. When the customer will be satisfied it just could but all things in the basket
Hope I have illustrated enough clearly what I am meaning to build
is there anything in drupal doing that?

For hotel booking you may try Drupal Rooms -> http://drupal.org/project/rooms
If you need something special, your startingpoint might be Drupal Commerce -> http://drupal.org/project/commerce
or Commerce Kickstart as Drupal 7 distribution -> http://drupal.org/project/commerce_kickstart
Commerce is the absoulte great Shop Extension for Drupal 7 with a lot of extending contribution modules.
At the moment I build modules for bus tours booking abilities.
The bookable products are periodic bus tours with 2 different prices (one for full payer, one for discount) and a limited number of participants per tour.
After checkout the tickets will be exported as PDF for printing.

this is almost exactly what I am looking to implement.
I am building a site for a tourism company with a few different trips and price structure that varies dependant upon season, age discount coupon etc..
In your experience, what's the best approach? Have you written a module or simply configured Commerce + other contributed modules.

With webform you are able to build any kind of simple to complex webform. The only thing you might need is a webform with date/time input field,input fields for customer informations and a field for additional infomations e.g.
