Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The Way Out West Drupal Group meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6-7pm at Serverlogic in Tigard, OR.

This month, we will be having a Drupal Movie night, featuring a video from DrupalCon Denver 2012.

Please vote in the comments for your choice of video or suggest an alternative! The selections I made for this month are geared toward gaining a fuller understanding of Drupal as a whole and how to get involved. But future presentations may tackle more technical subjects. We'll have time for approximately an hour of video, more or less, depending on pauses for discussion.

Vote in comments for your choice:

The Way Out West Drupal Group now meets at the offices of Serverlogic in Tigard, OR at the One Embassy Centre office building adjacent to Embassy Suites hotel.

For an easier time finding the building, check your map of choice and note that you can get to the building via SW Hall Blvd, turning on Eliander (despite the Washington Square Road street address).

Here is the address:

Serverlogic
9020 SW Washington Square Road, Suite 120
Tigard, OR 97223

Ample parking is available in the lots on both sides of the building. The front door to the lobby is located on the side that faces the hotel restaurant.

I went to Tame the Burrito in Denver, and would totally watch it again. Super insightful! Although, I'm open for the sessions I didn't go to too. Guess my comment isn't very helpful :P

Drupal Con Munich videos

There are also a lot of fascinating-looking presentations from Drupal Con Munich:

Here are some that might be good for this group meeting:

And, I have a question I sent in response to the email from Brad.

Make that 2 questions:
In D6 - get rid of or rename the "Title" field on a custom content type.
In D7 - provide a View Filter criteria for a date field that is >= to the date the user enters OR the date is Null. Is it possible to make both criteria apply all the time?

D6: auto_nodetitle

Nodes need titles, so you have to supply something. With auto_nodetitle, you can use the value from another field (or a combination of several).

Tough choice!

Tame the Burrito looks good, but I also admit I have an interest in what was said about Search and Facet APIs. I haven't seen much indication that Faceted Search in particular is at all a worthy contender for any sort of heavy lifting when it comes to search (to the point where I've actively discouraged people from using it instead of Solr), so it would be interesting to see someone talking about the good points for once. ;)

The Munich videos seem to be

The Munich videos seem to be more on the technical side, I know you were hoping to go for more of an overview video. I think Tame the Burrito is a good overview video, but I personally would be interested in any of the Munich videos.

We will have a quick vote tonight

There are some great suggestions here! We don't necessarily have to do an overview-like video. I'm all for a more technical video as long as not too many eyes glaze over. :)

We'll take a quick vote tonight before we start. See you then!
