2pm est. Readytalk
Present: Drew Frazier, Stefan Wray, Emily Frazier, Jason Daniels, Jay Haven

A lot of discussion focused on a funding consortium or other structure that could be put in place for shared development costs.

Large and midsize stations are much better suited to take the lead on this (MNN, SPNN, channelAustin )

Midsize and smaller stations may be able to set aside a line item for this - but then do not have the staff resources to implement/document/test. Can it work for them?

What exactly are we funding? How do stations benefit? These are some of the questions that management types should be asking each other.

The consortium might set out a perception of continued development.

CiviCRM Multiday event is a good example of how the ecosystem benefits from open source development. Reservations API is next up for channelAustin. Stefan at channel Austin is working through Telvue integration at the moment along with Cloudcast. Stefan had some fantastic ideas about Cloudcast and subscriptions.

Is there too much on Kevin's plate? While there are people doing documentation, there are only very few developers working on this project. Emily's assessment is that there could be more Drupal developer's involved but they would need to have a special tendency towards media and video.

The next milestone for the group appears to be to get the Difficult Kit as well refined and documented as the Easy Kit is. Stefan will have time for this after major projects at cA. This might be a good goal that we all can work towards

ACTION ITEM:
Let's start lining up a program for these Friday's so that they have more structure.
October 26 is possibly the Management Meetup Friday.
Other Friday's should be reserved for demo's of specific sites or have a specific concentration.

Suggested ideas......
Cm Theme might be a good meetup
Reservations API might be a meetup
A walkthrough the easy kit (for newbies)
Community Media Show and Project
Multiday Event / Full Calendar Configuration
Moderate Kit Documentation & Modules

Meeting earlier on Fridays?

westis's picture

I'm wondering if it's possible to have the meeting earlier on Fridays? In Kenya 2pm means 9m, and 9pm on Friday evening is usually not the best time for work meetings. I 'd like to attend, but have been absent so far.

It's certainly possible.

It's certainly possible. We've been meeting at 2PM EST on Fridays for awhile now and attendance has been very light as of late. This is probably a good indication that it's time to survey the group again to see if there's a more suitable time of day or even day of the week. We'll either pose this question to the group via email or possibly create an actual survey that gathers additional information useful to this group.
