BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.
BarCamp HK is on Sep 12 in Quarry Bay (same place as last year)

umm... although it is part of the "cool" about Drupal... being able to create a basic, functional web site in 30 mins... I don't know if that's suitable for BarCamp's audience (rather technical / geeky).
I don't have any idea, just that may be I can arrange for a web conference for the Drupal folks here in Tokyo to participate in the presentation.

Have fun at Barcamp! You should collect email addresses for people interested in HKDUG and invite them to join g.d.o after the event.
That's where I met you all last year and it was a great time.
Also worth noting the fact that I announced my idea "uOpenEd" at Barcamp HK 2008 as part of the elevator pitch competition. At OpenEd 2008 I met a few others with similar ideas. One year later on 09/09/09 we're launching Peer 2 Peer University (P2PU) http://p2pu.org with 7 courses.
Yea, if it's just your basic average website in 30 minutes, might not be as impressive. So why not a moderately feature-packed website in 30 minutes? I'm sure between all of us, we can come up with more... not necessarily included but just off the top of my head: videos, multimedia, maps, location, sms, facebook connect, twitter integration, etc.
I guess it also depends on the purpose of the session-- do we just want to give Drupal more visibility in HK? Let people know how easy it is to make up functionally rich sites? Create professional sites without writing a single piece of PHP?...

Perhaps within these 2 weeks we can look into the "Features" thing and create a new feature? (Just saying... I actually haven't looked into the "Features" thing too much to know what it is.)
Have been more than a little absent from this group, far too much work related travel! :-(
Anyway, am happy to help in anyway I can, was wondering if you have a venue in mind to meet up on Thursday. Are you still getting together at the usual venue - SOHOLife?
Lets make it Thursday evening then. Say 7:30pm. We'll need free wifi, so how about meet at Kosmo Coffee - corner of D'Aguilar and Wellington in Lan Kwai Fong.
@anewty yup we've still been meeting at soho life. We really need to book our next meetup. We can talk about that on Thursday.

I'm just new here in HK and a Drupal developer as well.. I might drop by but around 8:00pm already since I need to go CWB to have my notebook repaired.
Looking forward to meeting other Drupal developers in HK.
Everyone: I need examples of the work that you've built in Drupal. It would be good to have everything from simple blogs to big corporate sites to non-profit sites and everything in between. Post your URLs here.
@anewty No problem. The item from your list that I see fitting in with the things we already got from last night is usability improvements. I assume that you're talking about improvements in D7? Do you want to present the section on "What's new in D7"?

Thanks. I was talking about general improvements over the different versions. Sure, am happy to present that part. Do I need to just make a few slides or is it more just stand up and talk?
The only caveat is that I am now fighting this virus that my wife has so will have to see how it goes. In the event of absence, I have added a few links of reference around 'whats new in D7' to the wiki.
u mean ONLY the sites that we have done?? or other ppl sites too?

I was in barcamphk again, but I missed the drupal session because my related session (gogogo.hk - the web2.0 trip planning system in HK) was in same time period. ><
and who can tell me why the drupal session was moved earlier than original ? ;)

Meeting Up tonight @Kosmo: Can't make it
Hi everyone
After saying earlier I would be there, my wife is not very well and so need to head back home straight from work.
So will put a few thoughts here for your consideration:
Am from the end user perspective, so am happy to contribute anything around:
experiences of using Drupal in global organisations
improvements in usability of Drupal
comparison of Drupal with other offerings.
I guess you may wish to do something more technical, but will be there on Saturday so if there is anything you may wish for me to do...
I am happy also to meet up tomorrow if need be.
Sorry for the last minute drop out!
Have a great evening.
Andy
