I would like to extend the
I would like to extend the region to Latin-America, or something else, because this year was pretty cool about Camps and Regional Meetings. Finally the movement "started"(to be shown) in Spanish & Portuguese(what about Catalán? Quechua? etc?) and we should keep the "momentum", lets keep the stone rocking & rolling ;)

Yeaaah!
I bet people from México and centro-américa would love to go to a DrupalCon Latin-América. At least I would, and I'm from México ;-)
Awesome!
It'd be a great deal for us who live here in South America, since we are very distant from both US and Europe.
possible agenda
A possible agenda (we can revise, of course, but this should help get us started)
I know that Cary has to leave after a half hour so I suggest we put the topics toward the beginning that are most likely to require his input.

Numbers from Brazil
We had ~120 signups for DrupalCamp Campinas and more than 100 people attended.
We are also planning another Camp for end of October, this time we want to have an 2~3 days event and have at least 4 tracks (last time was 3).
Definitively in favor of making it Pan_Am
Hi all guys!
Sorry couldn't make it this year (grandparenting !!)
We had 40 people at our all-day Camp in June. See http://groups.drupal.org/node/24245
Would be great to consolidate on a single Central and South American Conference would be great!
Saludos a todos desde Sunny and Cold Bariloche, Argentina!

Brief resume
This are my notes of the meeting:
- Brazil is the best place for the first Latin DrupalCon
- Latin/Hispanic/Caribbean... all welcome! (we need a new name than "SouthAmerica")
- Date: Dec 2010/Jan 2011
- We should work in one proposal: HERE (this group), where Cary Gordon is listening.
- Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua, etc, etc, etc, are welcome to work in more DrupalCamps/Meetups/Sprints/etc, as promotion for the future DrupalCon "Southamerica"(still a proposal)
- If still not noticed, we should consistently use the word "proposal" until Drupal Association approves it.
More notes welcome!

Two notes and how YOU can help
Cuy, that's most of what's been discussed so far. A point that's missing is that many people strongly suggested us to use the help of a profession events organizing company.
If it's not clear yet: we are proposing an international DrupalCon, just like the European and North-American ones. All sessions will be in English, but we should open a space for begginer's workshops and BoFs in Spanish and Portuguese.
We from the Brazilian community are starting to work on the proposal document, because most of it involve venue and logistics and have to be done by locals. We'll most likely make draft versions available in this group. We have to have a final version of the proposal by the middle of november.
How can you help?
Spread the word! Raise awareness for the proposal and guarantee that people will show up. We have to get ~400 people at least to make this event viable.
If you worked on previous DrupalCons or big events, please send your proposals to us (jose at chuva-inc.com would be fine) and share your experiences and ideas.
Join this group. (oh, you're already reading it, so you've probably already joined it). Meaningful discussions will happen here and meaningful feedback is welcome.

We will certainly discuss this
Thanks for the hard work you guys have been doing! It has been great reading about your meetings and about the progress you are making.
We will certainly be discussing this in Argentina and how we can help.
We hope to be setting up a Drupal Dojo in Spanish soon (we are a bit lethargic getting underway), but once we get going that will create a body of docs and class info (topic session videos, notes) that can help towards the non-English speaking audience we definitely want to attract as an important track, recognizing that there will be hundreds of English-speaking participants in other tracks.
So I hope, alongside the traditional tracks, there will be a beginners and a "Drupal Professional" track in Spanish.
Another thing, organizational resources permitting, is that provision should be made for simultaneous translation and/or subtitles in videos in Spanish/Portuguese.

wikimania2009
Hi,
I had attended the wikimania2009 event in Buenos Aires.
It was very good in general, but the organization was great!
All tracks had simultaneous translation to english or spanish
Maybe we should contact them to get advices.
