Sprint

There's a lot buzz around http://badcamp.net/ and many of us thought about going there.
Most finally stay at home, because of e.g. travel time and possibly also expenses.

In addition to the Badcamp (2012-11-01 .. 04) gabor organized a sprint (2012-11-05 .. 06). Find more about D8MI and all other Drupal 8 Core initiatives.

Thus we decided to announce...

Badcamp Switzerland

The community will meet and focus on D8 core topics. We will participate Badcamp remotely and join sprinting for the goals.

Don't miss this opportunity to contribute to Drupal. Feature freeze is coming soon (dec 1)!

We are also looking forward to new contributors and will help you to start.

Hi!
I was at Drupalcon in Munich this year and heard what I heard at the last DUG, that there is lots of things for non-coders to do in Drupal development.

I did a bit of googling and came up empty, which is why I am writing this now. So my question is if I come to Badcamp Switzerland as a non-coder (I know enough PHP to make me dangerous. I know some HTML and CSS and can write bash scripts.) what is there for me to do? If you know of a website that give these feel free to point me there.

Another question, on the sign up it says AM and PM what are the time frames for AM and PM? If we come for both I am guessing I should bring a lunch with me. Anything other than a laptop that is helpful to bring along?

Thanks in advance for your answer!

Frederick

There are many things that

There are many things that you can do.

See for example:

You could for example test patches, work on CSS patches, improve documentation and coding style and more.

You don't need more than a laptop, although that laptop should probably have Git, PHP 5.3+ and Drupal 8 installed to get up to speed as fast as possible.

We wanted to announce the times already, but we'll probably start at 9:00am and you can stay as long as Miro, which is even on normal days often late :)

There are many places to get lunch but you can of course bring your own too.

Does that answer your questions?

I have been told that

Final updates of the event

Here some latest updates:

We decided to start on sunday on 13:00.Thus the morning is "cancelled". Many people signed up, but realized that a bit relaxing isn't that bad on sundays. ... So we'll start with the AM on 13:00 - 17:00 and PM 17:00-21:00 ;-) - which makes a full 8h day.

On monday / tuesday we'll start at 09:00 with expected closign around 19:00. Some dinner, bars and beer leave might happen 18:00..19:00+. We'll checkout the situation short term.

For sure, newbies are welcome. But please make sure that you are prepared with a working development environment: Notebook, Apache, PHP 5.3, mySQL, git client. Preferrably suited with a bit of knowledge on how to use git.

We're happy to be ready and i'm looking forward to see all of you soon in our offices!
