The Drupal Business Summit is coming to Boston! (Well, technically Burlington)

This free, one-day event will be held on November 15 at Acquia Headquarters. The Summit is intended for C-level marketing, IT, and operations executives who are exploring whether Drupal is a viable option for the organization's web-based initiatives.

At the summit, you will hear from:

  • Tom Erickson, CEO at Acquia who will present "Accelerating Business Agility with Open Source Drupal"
  • Dani Nordin, Founder, The Zen Kitchen, who will explore "Factors to Consider When Budgeting for a Drupal Project"
  • Carlson Mozdiez, Director of Digital Operations at Entercom/WEEI.com, who will present a Drupal case study
  • A moderated panel of organizations discussing factors they considered when adopting Drupal.

Who should attend?
This event is geared for decision-makers and the agenda is probably NOT a good fit for site builders, developers, or content administrators. For those championing the Drupal cause for your organization, get your decision makers to this event!

You won't want to miss this opportunity to network with your peers and learn all about local Drupal use-cases and best practices. This free event includes lunch and an end-of-Summit cocktail reception. Space is limited, so register today!

How was this event? I'd be happy to hear about the successes and challenges. Was anything recorded or written up anywhere?

Thanks for asking.

I was actually in the process of writing a blog piece on it, but since you asked...

The event went really well. I think the content/presenters really excelled in delivering a broad view of Drupal for decision-makers - specifically appealing to the non-developers. Acquia CEO Tom Erickson's keynote was a great kickoff - providing an excellent overview for the next sessions. The case studies were extremely interesting and relevant and the Drupal Adoption panel was extremely beneficial. Abundant audience participation and interaction was the order of the day.

In addition, Dani Nordin's session on budgeting could serve as a framework for folks in assessing any web project, but particularly useful for Drupal.

Copies of these presentations can be found at: http://drupalbizsummit2012.drupalgardens.com/

Going forward, I think we need to continue to shoot "outside the net" to find more folks just beginning the process of assessing Drupal. We still seem to be doing outreach to the general Drupal community. The "brand" of Drupal needs to continue to proliferate.

Thanks for the recap!

Thanks for the recap! Reaching outside the net is a big priority — the highest priority, I think — for events like these. If I recall correctly, that's the mission of the Drupal Association's BizConnect program.

I'm curious how business summits could be organized with representation and participation from user groups as well as business communities. What was the makeup of attendance? Was this a user group-based, volunteer-run event? Was there a fiscal sponsor who handled everything?
