I'm considering a Drupal project with listings of things like gigs, and I'm hoping there's a module which can handle recurring events, not just "thing X happens on Date Y at location Z" but "Thing X happens on the first Thursday of the month from now until Christmas".
The word Event in Drupal parlance often seems to refer to things where you need to manage the number of attendees, close off attendance when you've issued 100 tickets and so on. That isn't a requirement.
What module or combination of modules do you think I should look into?

I have been using
I have been using Calendar+Date module for a while and it works well with recurring events.

which as you'd expect has fewer provisos and warnings about PHP versions and having to enable CCK and so on.
