OK. I give up.
I've installed all the modules, libraries, and javascript files needed for slide shows but am now lost as to where to go next. I've looked at the advanced help but they don't help me set up a slideshow.
I used JCYCLE as suggested at the London DUG meeting in November and was able to do a slideshow or two for my Christmas message at (http://emandem.ca/swans/index.html) and (http://emandem.ca/hshs/index.html) but I could not get the EASING to work as shown in the example ... and I could not figure out how to get it to work on my Drupal website (http://palstratford.org)
As I said at the meeting, I am able to do a slideshow as a video with no problem. But I want the JCYCLE slideshow for the various rooms in our house at 101 Brunswick so they are more user friendly and also so people don't have to view a video from YouTube.
Is this the correct place to post this "discussion" or should I be using the Meetup interface?

JCycle Slide Show
Hi Lizz,
Thanks for your suggestions and encouragement. I've gone through all the various messages about JCycle on the Drupal website but haven't been able to figure out exactly how to add a message with a slideshow. I'm not familiar with IRC on my computer and haven't tried that but perhaps in future.
I was ALMOST there but then in the end it did not work.
I have a message from someone who might be able to help me and I'll get in touch with him and see what we come up with.

Thanks for your suggestions and encouragement. I followed the suggestions on the Drupal website and I was ALMOST there but then in the end it did not work.
I would appreciate any help you can provide. Perhaps I should look at some of the slideshows you've done on the web so I can get some ideas.
I'm really just looking to add a special content that I can use in future. I understand I should be able to add photos and then the slideshow will work on its own. But the suggestions on the Drupal website do not conform to the templates/modules that I got ... I'm on Drupal 7. Not sure if that is the problem.

Nivo slider
I used the Nivo Slider module on a recent project and it worked pretty well. Not as many options as Views Slideshow but it is easy to use and looks clean.

I am checking out the Nivo Slider module and files. I've already added all the requisite files for JCycle to my web files but haven't been able to get it to work.
I do have a slide show on the home page which actually uses JQuery code but I'm not sure which one.
