Does anyone have thoughts or connections on where to hold a Drupal Camp in the Boston area for 800-1,000 people? A school or university would be great.

How many attendees has D4D
How many attendees has D4D had in the past when it's been at MIT's Stata Center?
Stata capacity is 318
Stata capacity is 318 but there may be other possibilities on campus that's being looked into.

Salem State
I know it might be better to be right down town, but I have some connections at Salem State and at Endicott.
Where at Salem State?
I spoke to folks at Salem State a while back about another event, and they couldn't identify spaces large enough for an 800-1000 person crowd.
Did you have specific spaces in mind?

Your point about the additional spaces is good. I thought their main auditorium where they host their lecture series would work. Maybe not though. I will make a couple calls.
Boston University
The last few WordCamp Boston events have been at BU in the student union building, upstairs. They can easily accommodate 800-1000 people in the main ballroom area (they do events bigger than that all the time) - the question is more where you can fit 800-1000 people at once for primary sessions but also have enough smaller session rooms.
We've generally capped WordCamp at closer to 600-700 for that reason - we can all fit in one big room but not necessarily enough space in the smaller rooms. You could have other session rooms elsewhere on campus a short walk away.
You also really need a sponsoring organization inside BU - both to help cover the costs of the space and just to get treated as a university event not an external event.
We've also discussed potential spaces with Northeastern (Blackman auditorium and Curry student center) and Harvard (science center) but haven't yet successfully scheduled and executed an event.

Hi Susan,
I work for Acquia and can put you in touch with our events team who would be happy to help coordinate something. Many of the large local universities are clients and we'd be happy to help coordinate a space that would facilitate a large event.
