User group meeting
Hooray, we all survived the Mayan not-a-pocalypse and can enjoy another year of awesome Drupal meetups! As usual, the meetup will take place at the OpenSourcery office (1636 NW Lovejoy St).
I know a couple people have casually mentioned some presentation topics, but since we're just coming out of the holidays, nothing's been confirmed. If you'd like to present, post a comment below.
We'll also have a short presentation from Holly Ross, the Drupal Association's new executive director, about her goals and vision for the DA and the Drupal community.
Following the meetup, we'll head over to the Lucky Lab (1945 NW Quimby) for food, drinks and shenanigans.

Backbone.js and Twig intro
I'm going to present some basics of using Backbone.js, an "MV*" (model, view, and in this case, collection, router) framework for simplifying Ajaxy front-end interfaces that was recently included into Drupal core for D8. I'll also show how to use Twig templates (the new templating system in D8) in your Backbone interfaces now, without using D8.

Mapping in Drupal 7
Mapping and store locators in Drupal 6 were robust and efficient to create. There was one really solid solution, Location, that implemented mapping for D6. In D7, things are more diverse and thus more complex.
I think mapping would be a great theme for the next meet up.
I'd love some feedback about which mapping tools you have experience with. If you have any experience with mapping in D7, please leave a comment about which modules you've used.

Mapping in Drupal 7
I'd love to hear more about this mapping! This would be my first meet up with the Drupal group here.
Please excuse my ignorance, but when and where would this be taking place?
Awesome! We love having new
Awesome! We love having new folks join the meetups. The main Drupal meetup is the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6pm. We meet at the OpenSourcery office (1636 NW Lovejoy).
I typically post an announcement 2 weeks out, so you should see something pop up on the main http://groups.drupal.org/portland page next week. There's also info about other Drupal meetups in the Portland area at the top of the page.
Couple of solutions
Mapping in Drupal 7 is rad! I'd love to talk about it, and the timing is sorta great given ThinkShout's release of the new MapBox JS module: http://drupal.org/project/mapboxjs.
We could also talk about GeoField, Geocoder, Leaflet and the general state of all things in the open source mapping space....
