Presented by Jeanne DeBonis.

Jeanne DeBonis is The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Web Developer hired in 2011 to bring the museum’s website development in-house. Her background includes client- and server-side programming in several languages as well as information design and content management.

The museum successfully migrated its website from a Sitecore to Drupal CMS in a matter of months and employed a third-party developer to help with a very rapid-development timeline necessary to support launching a new iPad application, ArtLens. The museum’s website is currently undergoing content and theming cleanup from the migration and further enhancements and search functionality to serve its internal content developers and diverse online audience.

The presentation will cover the reasoning behind choosing Drupal, the requirements for the new site and how the content types and structure were designed to fit them, migration from more than one source (both Sitecore and the museum’s digital asset management system containing its entire collection of art), how we use features to make changes, and what we’re using web services for (feeding the iPad).

Also, Jeanne can discuss lessons learned both in the migration and in working with a third-party Drupal developer, things we could have done better if the timeline was a little less aggressive, and plans for the future.
