User group meeting

February's Drupal user group is the Mega Map Meetup!
Greg will be leading a discussion about various mapping solutions in Drupal, covering their respective pros & cons to help you determine which is the best solution for a particular mapping need.
Sean will be demoing the MapBox.js module, one of the newest mapping modules created at ThinkShout.
If you'd like to add a brief mapping presentation to the meetup, leave a comment below.
As usual, the meetup will take place at 6pm at the OpenSourcery office (1636 NW Lovejoy St).
Following the meetup, we'll head over to the Lucky Lab (1945 NW Quimby) for food, drinks and more socializing.

Drupal 7 mapping
I got involved in Drupal 7 mapping when an important client asked me to build a store locator. Having done some mapping with location in Drupal 6, I was confident that Drupal 7 would deliver at least as well if not better.
Having spent many, many hours working with maps in D7, I can honestly say that mapping is a feature still in progress. On Wednesday, I will share my struggles and two solutions that are workable. I hope by the end of the presentation to have some people pointing out solutions to my problems, and I know we will all leave with a better understanding of the many mapping options in D7.
If you have a recipe or solution that you think I might have missed, post it!

This couldn't be more timely
This couldn't be more timely for me. I have been looking at a number of different mapping options for our redesign. So far simple maps based on either WKT or Lat/Lon pairs have been pretty easy, but we have other needs that are a bit more difficult to do programmatically. I look forward to hearing what else is out there that I may be missing.
When in doubt, go downhill.
Mapping Demo
The demo of agency locators from my presentation last night is http://dev.gregboggs.com.
As of now, all the locators function except the open layers map, ideas welcome. I'll be deconstructing a working open layers map to see if I can solve it.
