This meetup has passed. Our next meetup is on April 25, 2013! See http://groups.drupal.org/node/295838 for details.

End the month with some fun and Drupal at the San Gabriel Valley Drupal Meetup at Intelligentsia Pasadena on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 from 6-8pm! This meetup's focus is on Users Helping Users, which is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal.

Please note that while Users Helping Users is not designed to be a replacement for bona fide consulting from a Drupal professional that there are plenty of Drupal experts and professionals who attend our meetups and sometimes they need help, too!

Thank You to Our Sponsors!

Exaltation of Larks - Expert Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training The raffle prizes for this event are being provided by Exaltation of Larks @LarksLA, a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company with a team of Drupal experts in Los Angeles.

Droplabs Los Angeles This event is being organized with help from Droplabs (@Droplabs), a collaborative Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles.

For any changes to our agenda for the evening, stay tuned to this meetup announcement or click the Sign up button below (or both!) and be notified when the agenda has been updated and to receive the organizers' phone number.

Presentations and Lightning Talks

Do you have a presentation or job announcement that you'd like to share with the group? Is there a topic you'd like to request a presentation on?

Leave a comment at http://groups.drupal.org/node/283483#comments to let the organizers and attendees know what you're interested in. Thanks!

Users Helping Users

The meetup begins at 6pm and kicks off with introductions and Users Helping Users, which is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal.

Please note that while Users Helping Users is not designed to be a replacement for bona fide consulting from a Drupal professional that there are plenty of Drupal experts and professionals who attend our meetups and sometimes they need help, too!

Agenda

Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks.

After the meetup, we'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 8pm. We may stay at Intelligentsia or over to Jake's or Lucky Baldwin's for something stronger. Even if you can't make it to the meetup, going to the Drupal After Dark is a great way to meet your fellow Drupal community friends and colleagues. Join us!

About San Gabriel Valley Drupal

We've been having Drupal meetups in the San Gabriel Valley since June, 2010. In addition to scheduling monthly meetups, our organizers hold occasional trainings and workshops and get together for social gatherings.

Attending SGV Drupal events is one of the best ways to meet and talk with other Drupaleros and we encourage you to attend meetings and special events regularly. See our event schedule at http://groups.drupal.org/sgv for more.

Whether it's to find solutions to problems you've been having, sharing something you've learned or just meeting interesting like-minded people, the SGV Drupal events are an essential resource for Drupal professionals and hobbyists alike.

The San Gabriel Valley Drupal group proudly participates in the California Drupal Travelers Program and can host businesses and community members who are visiting the area. Inquire within by contacting any of the SGV Drupal organizers.

I'm unable to make it due to

I'm unable to make it due to traffic, I'm afraid. Fortunately, the theme for tonight is Users Helping Users, and no formal presentations were planned. Have fun without me!

As I mentioned to Christefano

As I mentioned to Christefano over an hour ago, I'm unable to make it due to a client emergency. Sadly, this means both organizers are unable to make it out for Users Helping Users. :(

The good news is that I've been in talks to secure a venue for us in Pasadena. Hopefully, I'll have good news to share on this front next month. :)

As Miguel stated here back in

As Miguel stated here back in February, we've been working on getting a solid venue for a while. It took some time, but we now have a solid venue for the Pasadena / SGV Drupal meetups for the next couple months.

See http://groups.drupal.org/node/295838 for the meetup in April, 2013, and http://groups.drupal.org/sgv for a running list of upcoming events in the area. We're also on Meetup.com at http://www.meetup.com/Greater-Los-Angeles-Drupal

At Intellegentsia...

I'm at Intellegentsia and not seeing anyone that I recognize or anyone who seems to be organizing.

Howdy Seph. Both of us

Howdy Seph.
Both of us organizers had last-minute issues arise, sorry about that. In all the years I've been organizing Drupal groups/events w/Christefano this has never happened. Cya next month in Pasadena!

The next Drupal event nearby, if you're interested, is in Downtown LA on Tuesday: http://groups.drupal.org/node/284963.

SGV Drupal

Hi Seph,

I was down at Intelligentsia from ~ 6-8, & I didn't see anyone I recognized, or who even looked plausible(??) -- were you sitting outside?
I'll have to make sure I meet you at one of the meetups to add your face to my wetware facial recognition routine...

Later,

Jeff Nutting (fejn)

SGV Drupal

Hi Jeff,

I was sitting in the back. Was there for about an hour. I even asked the baristas about the Drupal meetup and they looked at me like I was crazy..lol. Looking forward to meeting you.

Seph

I never had any problems with

fejn's picture

I never had any problems with the baristas asking about Drupal meetup: I found out from them that 2 people had come by and asked about it ~ 6pm: nobody that they saw around at the moment; they just said one guy had "short hair, gray, with a black coat". Looking at your picture, it would have been easier if they'd said "...Jean-Luc Picard..."

My apologies again to

christefano's picture

My apologies again to everyone who came out and didn't have a master of ceremonies to pull everything together.

I've never seen traffic on the 10 as bad as it was yesterday. If we'd had a WebEx or Google+ Hangout for this meetup, I could have easily attended from the comfort of my vehicle as I inched closer and closer to Pasadena.

Sadly, until we have a venue with better crowd control and acoustics, the SGV Drupal meetup won't be able to incorporate a video conference. Our search for a new venue continues.

As Miguel said above, the next Drupal meetup in the area is on Tuesday, March 5th, at Sensis in Downtown Los Angeles:

How about we have another Users Helping Users at that event?

Sorry you had to go through

fejn's picture

Sorry you had to go through so much pain trying to get there; comments:
a) venue with better crowd control and acoustics -- Intelligentsia may not be optimal in terms of giving presentations, etc., but I think it probably would work well for smaller informal meetups (often what SGV approximates)
b) another Users Helping Users... -- fine, this type of meetup often addresses a lot of issues at once, with the virtue of flexibility
c) Ah! -- you say, "What we need is virtual flexibility" -- that's an ongoing project on a number of fronts (modules??)
