We’re opening this discussion up because we’d like to have co-organisers added to the Sydney Drupal group on Meetup.com. Meetup.com makes it simple to run a group with more than one organiser, and we’d like to take advantage of this capability.
The Melbourne Drupal group uses the Meetup.com co-organiser feature very effectively.
We’d like to propose that we have three co-organisers for the Drupal Sydney group on Meetup.com, so we’re asking for volunteers to take up two more positions.
If people could respond indicating a willingness to be considered as an organiser for the group that would be great. These are not ‘permanent’ positions - it would be great to share this responsibility around the community over the coming months.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ryan for the work he has done in running the group over the past few years. We hope that he will stay on as one of the Meetup.com organisers.
Comments
thanks for posting this
i discussed this with James before he posted, and i fully support the idea of co-organisers for the meetup.com group.
i'm happy to volunteer as a co-organiser :-)
I support this
I am happy to volunteer as a co-organizer, and prefer that it be rotated periodically. This will give everyone a chance to play an active role in the community.

Sounds like a move in the right direction
Coming off the back of the recent improvements to the Sydney meetup and the change in the organising structure this makes a lot of sense.
As there is no new discussion
As there is no new discussion around this lets call that a motion and action it. Who is the current organiser? @rcross is that you? Please flick the switch and add @beejeebus, @mkostrzewa and @gollyg with the right creds to add further co-organisers. Please post here when you've done that.
Those co-orgs listed above please post your meetup ID in this thread. Mine is @mr.snow:@queenvictoria
If we have the future organisers added by the current months orgs and people who would like to be rmdir -Rf'd do that themselves then we have a perfect self organising system.
update
two quick updates:
1) I've made pam, magda and murray assistant organisers on meetup.com. The intention is that they have this access/role for a longer term, but no currently specified length.
2) the month-to-month organiser access has already been in affect, with each month's host getting "event organiser" access for that month.
