[Thoughts][Your Input Needed] What is "the team" or "the community" ?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

AA, ... kindly keep in mind that this post is more of an opinion about how things are currently going on the team didn't want to post on the event because I felt it would be hijacking that other topic :D, but its generally connected ...

I agree with Mosab about the fact that "there is a lot of tension around" I've been watching for a while and didn't want to interfere in order not to be misunderstood by anyone :D ... but I think it all originates as a result of the difference in how different parties define "the team" or "the community" ... please please pleaseeee, read the following few lines with some open-mindedness and know that NO ONE IS LEGIBLE TO ACCUSE YOU OF ANYTHING OR BLAME YOU AT ALL :)... Just let's take this as a starting point to agree about how this team should be run and then use that agreement as a commonly accepted concept and characteristic of the team :)

For some, its more of a place where people collaboratively come together to volunteer on work, ideas and virtually discuss everything openly in order to bring the highest benefits to our target beneficiary (the Egyptian Developers Community in this very case) with the least possible amount of barriers... this is why they those think it should be "Free as in free food" and they have a point on it ... if the community ever collected funds for any event, that should be minimal and should go to the communities balance to pay for the communities upcoming activities! not to specific person(s) while the team might have others willing to volunteer doing it... the name of the team for those people shouldn't be used for any personal benefits of any of the members pretty much as drupal can't be sold as is :)

For Others, community is a group of trustworthy people steering everything on their own and a bunch of "doers" who are somehow hooked to the team and are the maths which do actions :)... well I hate to admit it, but they also have a point on that, supposing that people outside the circle of trust are not committed enough or that keeping things that way keep things rolling...

please, I urge you to keep this a calm and mindful discussion with true hope to come to a real (and final) commonly accepted way to run things here :)

Kind Regards,
Mahmoud Fawzy
