This year’s Midwest Drupal Summit (MWDS) will be held August 15-17 at Palantir.net’s offices on Chicago’s North Side and will consist exclusively of well-organized sprints focused on breaking down remaining release blockers and helping to ensure that Drupal 8 is the best and most polished version of Drupal yet.
Unlike a traditional DrupalCamp, MWDS will not have any regular sessions, just focused working groups organized around specific topics. All attendees will be asked in advance to commit to a specific sprint for each day they attend. We anticipate that there will be at least one sprint track for non-technical contributors as well as a track designed to onboard new Drupal contributors.
Confirmed and anticipated attendees include Drupal project lead Dries Buytaert and Drupal 8 co-maintainer Alex Pott, as well as other Drupal 8 initiative leaders and key Drupal contributors including Larry Garfield (Crell), John Albin Wilkins (JohnAlbin), Karoly Negyesi (chx), Jen Lampton (jenlampton), Dave Reid (Dave Reid), Cathy Theys (YesCT), and xjm.
Register now at http://mwds.eventbrite.com/. If you’re interested in helping out, please let us know by filling out the form at http://www.palantir.net/mwds-volunteer
While Palantir will be donating the venue, we’re also looking for sponsors who can help fund scholarships, as well as food and refreshments for those in attendance. If you or your company is interested in sponsoring, let us know. This is a great opportunity to give back to the Drupal project and help ensure the success of Drupal 8!

Any thoughts on locations?
Even though I'm in Oak Park, I'm going to try and get a room near by (willing to share), since an L ride could be 1 hour 10 mins one way for me.
Also, sprints during or before/after?
Maybe I could schedule an Oak Park sprint around that time.
Cathy Theys
All sprints
I believe the intent is to be mostly or all sprints, not presentations. So don't schedule an Oak Park sprint, schedule one at the summit. :-) (You'd be great for a new-contributors sprint, methinks.)
Additional information
Additional information about MWDS has been posted to http://www.palantir.net/blog/announcing-midwest-drupal-summit-drupal-8-p... , along with a call for sprint leaders, sponsors, and other volunteers.
Registration will go live in mid-July.

PFC Newbie reporting for duty...
Longtime lurker, first time poster. I've been working with Drupal for a couple of years now but nothing beyond downloading and hacking modules for sites I build. I'm interested in wading into the deep end though and help contribute to the community. I'm ready to start wherever I need to to get going. This seems like a good place to be, so count me in. Thanks.
