Thank you for joining the second meetup about Drupal workshop last week.

After two discussions, a proposed arrangement is suggested as below:

Suggested Topic: Live your own Drupal website under your own environment within 2 hours

Rundown:

  1. Show the goal of the workshop with referenced website (e.g. build a personal blog)
  2. Have your own cloud hosting
    1. Create an Amazon Web Services account
    2. Open Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
    3. Select an pre-configured, templated Amazon Machine Image with Virtualmin (Open Source Web Hosting Control Panel) and Drupal
    4. Configurate domain setting to make Drupal live to public
  3. Manage your own Drupal website
    1. Create basic page with menu
    2. Create blocks
    3. Enable some default function for blog, e.g.
      • Recent blog posts
      • Recent comments
      • Who's online
    4. Change website layout
  4. Bonus section
    1. Create content type with fields (CCK)
    2. Create dynamic content display logic (Views)
    3. Create conditional display of content (Context)
    4. SEO enhancement - enhance visibility of website in a search engine
    5. Performance enhancement - Enable Varnish, Memcache
    6. Security enhancement

Sponsorship:

  1. PantaRei Design Limited provide Amazon Machine Image (1.3.) for the workshop and man-power for logistics
  2. Amazon Web Services sponsor for cloud hosting, workshop logistics

Potential workshop venue:

  1. Hong Kong Open Source Conference 2013

May I suggest

To add in the bonus section :
- Linking content with entityreference & entityreference_prepropulate
- Embed View in Entities with Entity Views Attach (eva)
- Customizing Entities Layout using Display
- Views output templating

I see the 3 first one as a single one, as this is useful in many case studies and they are going together. The number 4 is the cherry on top of the cake.

Maybe this is already too high level, we are not anymore in the newbie court with that (Context is not either btw), but it's here that the power come.
