hi kids!
it looks like i'll be moving to Portland in a few months; my reasons to coming to Seattle (from Corvallis) were sound 5 weeks ago, but life can change real fast. so it's back to plan A, which was in place before i switched to plan B in December.
anyway, i have 10 Drupal websites and need to set up several more. i was on the verge of purchasing a multi-domain package from Dreamhost, when someone on Drupal (n the course of a long thread on the topic) suggested several Drupalists joining forces to purchase/lease (whatever) their own hosting box. instead of my sites being on a virtual server with the various limitations that necessarily imposes, i could have each site with its own "real" domain. and if i joined up with others, i could get the price down to the shared virtual range.
a) does that make sense as i posed it? i'm not the most technical of people, which is why i loved Drupal: i don't have to be.
b) is the concept sound? sharing a box among 3 or so people to give everyone real hosting for all their sites and cutting costs?
c) anyone interested? i have references if you want to check me out. and i'll be down there by early June, so we can meet and talk it over. i'm not in a big hurry; my current plan renews quarterly, and i'll want to make a change but would like to see if this is doable.
cheers!
todd
