We're currently under a "Watch Live" spam attack and Honeypot and Mollom can't seem to keep it out. (I've been deleting this spam for the last few days.)

Honestly, the best thing to do under these attacks is to report it on IRC in #drupal-groups (or #drupal-contribute) - that might get someone's attention. For "basic" non-complete spam attack spam (such as one-off comment spam) best to report to Drupal Groups issue queue.

If you have the Spam Fighter role (which you can request at the issue queue) you can flag it as spam, but that doesn't do any good in spam attack situations.

Now if you'll excuse me, more spam to delete :(

How can we get rid of the Job posts?...

dahacouk's picture

I would like to also get rid of the Job posts as we have stated that we do not allow them in this group. How can we do that? Cheers!

There is currently no way to get rid of a content type on a per-group basis.

If you see the "Edit" tab on the job post node, you can move it to the Drupal Jobs group.

Removed job posts by hand...

And also removed users who posted job posts. ;-)

Group organizers should be able to remove members on the list members page. Some users who post, though, may not have actually joined the group. If you notice users continually posting jobs, you can let us know.

Can we set up a group called SPAM and then we would be able to transfer all our SPAM into it? Given that we can't delete anything!

Rather get Mollom working so

Rather get Mollom working so we don't have to waste time deleting obvious spam.

Check out the "Sandbox"

Check out the "Sandbox" group:

   https://groups.drupal.org/sandbox

I regularly move spammy posts there just to clean up the groups I help manage (and prevent future comment spam from going to thousands of real members).

If you join the Sandbox group, you might want to update your notification settings to avoid getting messages from that group. :)

Short term fix...

dahacouk's picture

silverwing: totally appreciate that Mollom should be looked into. But in the very short term our groups get messed up with junk and we can't do much about it. I don't mind tidying things up if I have to. Got any other suggestions other than moving offending content to a "dead" or other group? Cheers!

I wish there was...

I can't think of any short-term fixes that would be acceptable. (A separate group wouldn't be acceptable to me, but you, of course, can suggest it in the issue queue.)

You can also ask for the Editor role (you've been around long enough) I believe that role will let you unpublish nodes - just make sure to report them in the Groups issue queue so the user can be blocked/spam removed completely.

Links...

Thanks! Would it be easy just to whack in the links for:
1. Where I ask for the Editor role?
2. Where the Groups issue queue is to report users?
Would save me a bunch of time searching.
Cheers!

I asked for a Spam Fighting role...

dahacouk's picture

Seems like being made an editor is the old way of fighting spam. So, I asked for a Spam Fighting role at https://groups.drupal.org/node/266598#comment-985083

Cheers!

Asked for Editor role too...

And I've asked for Editor role too at https://drupal.org/node/2131751

So please back me! ;-)
