User group meeting

Themes, templates, template.php, tee-pee-els and twig! This month we're focusing on the front end: where and how to modify what Drupal sends to the browser. Eric will kick things off by covering the general where and how-to in Drupal 7. Then Darren will show us how things have changed in Drupal 8 and help prepare us for upgrading.

This month, pizza is sponsored by Metal Toad. Metal Toad makes killer Drupal sites (and apps) for the entertainment industry and they also host a regular game night (third Tuesday of the month) for Drupalers and other Portland technologists.

OpenSourcery will also have the kegerator flowing along with a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

As with last month, we'll start off with about 30 minutes of food and socializing before diving into presentations. Following the DUG and announcements we'll head over to the Lucky Lab on Quimby (map) for more food, drink and socializing.

Portland and PNWDS 2014

I'm not able to make it into the meetup tonight, but if folks end up talking about PNWDS 2014 at the Lucky Lab, I'd be glad to participate via IRC :)

I was going to mention

I was going to mention something at the Lab, but mostly just to setup a date to have a kickoff/planning meeting that everyone could attend. I know a few key people who aren't able to attend tonight, but who should absolutely be included in PNWDS planning.

PNWDS 2014 Next Steps

Debriefing from PNWDS 2013 tonight would be awesome, but it's too early to start planning next year. We did this last time and it didn't work out well, it's too early to predict schedules a year out and too many variables exist that we end up wasting people's time.

At this point I have agreed to organize PNWDS 2014 with the Summit Organizing Committee, and have a very tentative few people that would like to be involved. Rather than have a big planning meeting with lots of good ideas, and no ability to take actions, I'd like to propose waiting until the spring when the work starts. Then as the spring and summer progress give more specific updates as to how the process is going, and where the needs are.

If you want to be on the notify me in the spring list just fill out this form: http://bit.ly/15W3pGi

Thanks everyone! Feel free to hit me up with questions via my user name or sarah at shomeya.com.

Edit: Last update! Shortening link so that it will finally work in your email client.
