Hey -
I was wondering if anyone in the community would be interested in meeting up this weekend to help me (and anyone else) get their hands dirty in Drupal 8? I have a version of Drupal 8 installed (I'm sure it needs to be updated) and I'd really like to get involved and contribute something... but I don't know what I'm doing. :/
I was thinking maybe a coffee house someplace either Saturday or Sunday afternoon?
Let me know if anyone is interested.

Great idea!
Great idea! I've been meaning to check out D8 and I'd like to be more involved in the community as well. I won't be able to meet this weekend due to prior plans, but if this becomes some kind of monthly meetup, etc. I'd definitely be interested in participating.

Sounds good
I think that's a great idea and I would be willing to help folks get involved in Drupal 8 if there is interest. I've been rather active in Drupal 8 development and I'm a co-maintainer of the Drupal 8 configuration system.
Saturday afternoon would work for me, but not Sunday.
If this weekend doesn't work, I was thinking about doing something similar at the coder meet-up next week. As you can always come for core mentoring at core office hours: https://drupal.org/core-mentoring.
I could make either day work.
I could make either day work. If anyone wants to help me port Flag module to D8, I'd really appreciate it. ^_^
Place and Time
Sounds like there's a few people interested... so I'm going to suggest a time of:
2pm on Saturday (9/28).
I'm not sure where a good central location would be. I'd be coming from Eagan. Any suggestions on a location?
Three ideas
Thanks for doing this. I'll try and make it. Here are three possible locations:
1) Peace Coffee - 3262 Minnehaha Avenue South, MPLS
http://www.worklatte.com/location/peace-coffee
We've met there before, but I'd be a little worried that we might not find space if we show up with 4 or more folks. It is possible to reserve their "Lab" (suggested $25 purchase, which we 3-4 of us could handle).
2) Urban Bean - 3255 Bryant Ave S, Mpls (near Advantage Labs)
http://www.worklatte.com/location/urban-bean
Lots of space and seating, but I find the place to be pretty "hollow"
3) Dunn Brothers - 530 University Ave. SE, MPLS
http://www.worklatte.com/location/dunn-bros-university-ave-mpls
Lots of space. Best to bring a spare power strip. They have a large table for about 8 that is great, if it's available. Single bathroom requires a key to get in.
Someone else make a decision! :-)

Quite Office Space :)
Thank you Tim! :)
I looked over the options and not that I didn't like any of these places, but... I got approval from the boss to have this Drupal 8 Contribution get-together at Irish Titan.
Irish Titan
7400 Metro Blvd #170
Edina, MN
We've got tables to work at and a couch to chill out on. Feel free to bring any beverages and/or snacks.
Just to recap...
2pm Saturday, 28th at Irish Titan.
Thanks
Any of the coffee shop ideas make me a little nervous about space, especially when we don't know who or how many will show up.
I like your option. Since, it's a little out of the way - I'm willing to give someone a ride if that is an issue for anyone that wants to participate. I'm coming from the north, so I could arrange my route to swing almost anywhere.

There's room for you. :)
I'll be there
Sounds like a party.
@socketwench I'll help you out porting Flag module. Probably would be a good learning experience for all.
Coffee
At 2:00 PM today, one of my most pressing concerns is going to be coffee.
Do I need to bring my own? Or can we find coffee on-site?

As this is actually on my side of town
I'm all out of excuses. I assume it's BYOCoffee?
Thanks
Thanks to @JessSchn for initiating and hosting this event.
We had six people show up with less than 24 hours notification and work on Drupal 8 core development for 4+ hours.
Personally, I successfully re-rolled one patch. Tried and failed on at least two more. Thanks to @mtift for introducing me to some alternative options for contributing to the CMI project (Configuration Management Initiative).
Next scheduled opportunity to work on Drupal Core will be one week from Thursday at Tightrope Media. That is our next scheduled Drupal Coder night (not yet officially announced).
