New Website Development for Isles of Scilly

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Here at the Council of the Isles of Scilly we have just gone out for quotations for a brand new website.

More information can be found on our current site at: http://www.scilly.gov.uk/procurement/contractop.htm

It could be quite an interesting project. We are the UK's smallest local authority, so building a new website creates unique challenges - not least a limited budget.

I am aware we are not the first LA to move to Drupal. But in case it is useful I will update here every so often with updates on our progress.

If anyone happens to know of any great drupal developers looking to work in the UK public sector wherever they may be then do get them to get in touch.

Thanks.

Oh Hello Alan, didn't know you were a Drupaller - small world.

The quotation period closed on the 15th (last Friday). We received a phenomenal number of quotations, I'll update here soon on exact breakdowns.

We're currently going through them, and we're hoping to award the contract by the 6th December (hopefully a bit earlier at the current rate). Providing I legally can, I will share all the information I can here once it's all done and things.

I'm also hoping we'll be able to share details of the build as it takes place with the wider Drupal community, as given our size it could be an interesting starter template for other Public Sector Drupal builds, but we shall see in a couple of months.

Hello all, Just to let you

Hello all,

Just to let you all know. It total we received 41 quotations to build the new site which was a phenomenal number. If it's useful information we only advertised the build through our website and free listings boards, so it shows it is possible to get a great deal of interest in a project without spending money. I think the Drupal forum itself was probably the source for most of the interest.

In the end the contract was awarded to a group called Plan Alpha Associates, who have previously built work for a number of Councils and also have a wealth of public sector knowledge.

I am happy to answer any specific questions anyone may have.

Thanks.

Hi, would it be possible to

Hi, would it be possible to open source any of the requirements, design and development of the site? There are other councils out there doing this and it would increasingly help to build better technology that can be reused.

Happy to help in any way with this.
