Hey guys,

Any talks of a February meet up? I will be back in town around the 14th of February and would love to present or just network as I am moving back in April for good!

No Takers?
Really don't want this to die out....

I can provide a venue in the valley or anchorage...

No dying out! I've been moving all weekend.

Hey,

Our next meeting is Feb. 19th @ 7pm. It will be at our usual spot barring new info from Marc.

As for presentations, let me know how much time you'll need and I'll pencil you in! That goes for everyone. I'll have an agenda outlined and posted asap, but like I said, I've been moving.

:)

Awesome but at the same time

tehbmar's picture

Awesome but at the same time Lower said he also has a place which might be good. As for presentations I don't have anything in mind was there anything you want to suggest?

Mine will be pretty lengthy

Mine will be pretty lengthy but should be good!

Put me down for ~ 25 minutes expecting quite a bit of Q & A.

Presentation - Can't wait to see it!

Good morning,

I've got you down for the first hour of the meeting next week. Are you still able to come? I promise we won't lock anyone out in the cold this time. ;) I'm checking internet connections and such, so we can get our folks outside of Anchorage in on the fun.

You're still doing Structuring your CSS with SASS/SCSS comparisons - So How to keep your CSS clean then keep it even cleaner with Sass, yes? I wanted to put it on the top page.

Again, I apologize for the wait, but I've had some work/home/life things to take care of until today. I think it will slow down soon and I can better get on top of the meetings. Of course, if someone wants to help out, I would be more than grateful to pass some of the responsibility over. :)
Best,

KC

If someone has any talks

tehbmar's picture

If someone has any talks ideas that they want to hear I'll be more than happy to partake, or even just do a lighting talk (sub 5 min talk about a cool tool or lesson learned)

This is what happens when...

My Drupal email goes to my work address, which I usually check ten billion times a day, but I've been moving since Friday (will be done tonight), and have had neither internet or the time to get this all together.

Let me know what you all want to present, and I'll pencil you in. Also, let's find a solution which allows our remote folks to be able to participate.

I'm putting together a

Loyer's picture

I'm putting together a presentation to give here in Portland in -

Structuring your CSS with SASS/SCSS comparisons - So How to keep your CSS clean then keep it even cleaner with Sass.

I also have one on Drush + Features in Drupal.

Really I don't think we couldn't have enough presentations.

I think something with version control (Git) would be awesome. Maybe utilizing it with a platform like Pantheon.

Whats new and exciting with Drupal 8 would be good as well.

Favorite modules would be a good talk as well.

I have a venue in the valley that could easily hold 20ish and a venue in Anchorage that could hold about 15.

Why the valley?

tim042849's picture

:) Not that I'm complaining, since I live in Palmer, but aren't most drupalists in Anchorage?

Is restoration science still available? That's a great place.

I still have the presentation that I was planning to give last time. It is on migrating a legacy project into drupal.

I would have four files :
1)Narrative with case study, legacy discussion and instructions.
2).info file
3).module file
4).install file

All are well documented as a howto and I could bring a laptop, or just a files on thumb drive if someone or some laptop on site is already set up to do a slide show.

Presentation should take 15-20 minutes, depending on discussion.

Video conference the meetup?

akgooseman's picture

Hi,

There's no chance I'll ever make it south of the Alaska Range for any meetings. Is it possible to have the meetings via video conference for those Alaskans not in the area? I'd be happy to host a Webex meeting or can use Skype, etc, if someone local could set up a computer and camera.

~Paul

Let me get on that!

liketehcold's picture

I think it would be great for you and our valley folks in terrible weather to have a videoconferencing option. I know there's a person in Homer as well who might want to do this. Please let me get this together for you. --More details to come!

I'm checking the internet connection.

liketehcold's picture

Hi,

I'm checking the internet connection in the room we're usually in to see if it can handle video. If it can handle video, can you be in charge of setting up the Skype or a Google hangout, etc.? Anyone else want to plug in from outside Anchorage? Anyone have a camera we can use for the meeting?

-KC

We do have a connection tonight, so let's do this!

liketehcold's picture

Hey,

If you're still able to hangout with us tonight, we will have the ability to get Skype or a hangout going. Let me know what works for you. If you want to be in charge of getting it set up, all the better!

Thanks,

KC

Skype tonight

akgooseman's picture

Hi KC,

Thanks for going to the effort of including those of us not in the Anchorage area. I'm happy to host a skype session tonight. My skype username is 'akgooseman', same as here on drupal.org. I'll fire up my client before 6:45 for the 7:00 meeting and await your call.

It has been a while since I've used Skype, but I think they have a 3 participant limit for unpaid accounts. There's room for one other remote member to join unless someone with a premium account hosts.
I'm able to host a Webex meeting with up to 25 participants if people want to use that instead of Skype.

Looking forward to attending,
~Paul

Frankly, I find Mark's place completely ideal, but that is just me. I vote we stick with Restoration Science if it is available. As for traveling to Anchortown, the weather forecast looks good for the 19th. I do think it would be great to put together a plan for video conferencing, however.

P.S.
Duh! I just realized that I was thinking the meeting was scheduled for the 12th, now I realize that it is actually the 19th. So the weather remains a wild card, but I remain hopeful. - cheers
