DASA needs to initiate a discussion and have as full a participation as possible in identifying who we are and what we stand for. To this end I have penned a slogan, mission and vision statement as I see the organisation from a hobbyist point of view and where I would like to influence our growth and development. I encourage the DASA members to amend or replace these statements based upon your interpretation of who we are and where you want us to traverse.
Here goes:
Slogan:
Advancing Drupal one webmaster at a time.
Mission Statement:
DASA is committed to the Drupal Software Project in South Africa, developing an open, transparent and voluntary campaign to promote crusade, support and nurture the local Drupal Community.
Vision Statement:
Within the next five years, DASA will maintain and support vigorous and growing Drupal Communities in the major centres. DASA will have developed and cultivated a desire within Business, Government and Institutions of Learning for knowledge of the superior functionality and security features in Drupal. Five years thereafter, DASA will host the first DrupalCon on the African continent.
It is our wish that we can include these final statements in our new webpage as soon as the end of this month. Tell us where we need to go.
Thanks guys
Adam

I like how the slogan acknowledges the individuals that make up our community.
I'm in on the mission and vision too. It's clean and clear and echoes the dreamy good things I've heard at the meetings that we're slowly beginning to execute on while also placing emphasis just right.
Bold move on the DrupalCon! ;-)
My 2 cents
Adam, Iike your proposal. Below is what I had come up with for the slogan and Mission Statement. Your vision statement is excellent.
Slogan
Nurturing Drupal (enthusiasts and developers)
Mission
Provide platforms to bring together Drupal enthusiasts and developers with the aim of growing Drupal with in our region.
Especially like your Slogan
I like this very much! Thank you.
Unfortunately I noticed on the minutes for the meeting of DASA last night (I did not attend as I was out cold from the Nigerian trip still) that the initial slogan, mission and vision was accepted already. We can raise your contribution again (and any additional ones from the community, submitted here as well as any further commentary) at the next meeting on the 19th of March.
What do you guys think? It's very important that everyone with an opinion comments on these things as we take community contribution to heart because we're acting in representation of the community. Please, even if you have only a +1 to contribute that will help, but a sentence or two, even just a slight opinion, matters and helps us so much more.
